Marc Guehi

No transfer fee though. England international, 25 years old. But yeah I suppose if he’s a poor player it’s always a shit deal.

I agree. I just don’t think people have fully clocked how big squads need to be now and how much any trusted player will get on the field. There are so many games, so many injuries.

People talk about Eze not playing but he’s on track for about 2800 minutes across all comps which would be his second highest season since getting to Palace. If you’re at the level, you will play a lot even if you’re not in an obvious best 11.

Maybe our medical department have concluded neither Gabriel or Saliba are capable of playing the expected minutes we require of them. We’ve been without Saliba twice this season, Gabriel just returned.

When everyone is fit (which is never) the squad does feel bloated. But since it’s never the case, and we only seem to get more games each season, I can see why we’re involved in this deal.

I also suspect Guehi is tempted by the religious Arsenal lads, he also knows them well via the England setup

We’ll see. I still think he’ll move this January though, to City, Pool or abroad.

None of his options are good if he wishes to continue playing regular minutes and be in contention for the world cup.

Bayern, Barca and Liverpool are his best options for that imo.

He definitely starts at Liverpool.

Madueke too.

Ahead of whom?
Both Konate & VVD won’t go to the bench

are they in for him?

They’ll definitely bench Konates ass seen as he’s off on a free.

Konate hasn’t signed a contract yet and he’s not playing well either.

Yeah. They’re two of the teams reportedly monitoring his situation.

Surprisingly, Madrid haven’t been. Upamecano is also running his contract down and he’s been heavily linked with Madrid.

Then he should definitely join Liverpool

There is a scenario we see a merry go round with Guehi going to Liverpool, Upamecano to Madrid and Konate to Bayern.
Rudiger is also out of contract.

If he pulls that off. I officially give up football making sense.

It seemed that was the likeliest scenario recently but the latest reports suggest Bayern have managed to convince him by offering him 20m gross a year.

So we have already seen this season, when Gabriel was injured, that there was a huge drop off in our defence, while he was out. We need quality players within the squad and I think Guehi is quality. At 25, he is also at a good age still. Gabriel isn’t getting any younger (28).

In terms of precedent, we have seen this at City. Pep was able to effectively rotate his CBs and defenders over the course of a season. We need to do this if we want to go deep into all the Cup competitions and mount a challenge for the PL each season.

Plenty of games for him here. If everybody is fit, he’s back up at City or Liverpool as well. He probably doesn’t want to go to a foreign team not called Madrid or Barca and there are no guarantees that he starts there.

Chelsea is the team he probably should join.

Too old for Chelsea
