Torreira likely has no future here. He may want to go back to Florence and maybe they tried to be clever about putting pressure on the player and selling club.

Proper Italian club nonsense. If you don’t insert an obligatory purchase, this is bound to happen.
Torreira’s contract expires in 2023. If any team wants him, Arsenal are in no position to really negotiate.

Surely one of the better Italian clubs would be interested in him and be willing to cough up that much?
If there is something we’ve learned from dealing with Italian clubs, is that they want to pay Primark prices when they buy but ask Harrods prices when selling.

Do they mention any real numbers in their reduced offers? I feel like say, a €3m premium on fee and €20k on salary is worth it for a player that you know is going to work for you, over gambling on whatever the market can give you.
It seems baffling if they let this deal slip away if they truly want the player.
