Liverpool

And what behavior are you pointing out?
Oh you are talking about the driver’s behavior.

Well you are mostly right

The guy driving his fucking car into a crowd of people…

yeah it’s a shame

Innocent people have been injured or possibly worse. There is too much focus on the reckless twat behind the wheel.

What a horrible day for a club, who should be celebrating their greatest moment in recent history.

Ambulance service has cleared the scene - update on casualties tonight

The North West Ambulance Service said it has cleared the scene in Liverpool.

The service said it will give an update on casualty numbers later tonight.

A spokesperson said: "North West Ambulance Service has now cleared the scene following the incident in Liverpool and will be updating on casualty numbers at a press conference scheduled for later tonight.

“Details of this will be announced shortly.”

Would be great news to hear that no-one is going to lose their lives. :folded_hands:t2:

Can’t even go and support your team winning the league without some cunt trying to ruin it.

What is wrong with some people

Dan Ogunshakin, an off-duty BBC reporter, was in Liverpool for the parade and witnessed part of the incident.

Describing what he saw, he says: “The mood was one of celebration, of happiness, of joy and then all of a sudden we noticed an ambulance was moving down the crowd and I said to my friend, ‘I wonder if someone had fallen ill’, as obviously the ambulance is attending to someone.”

He says he saw a grey car in front of the ambulance and “suddenly a lot of people started to surround it”.

“Then what we noticed was people were hitting the car and shaking the car and we wondered why this was suddenly happening.”

He says the car then reversed and knocked people away from it, and then “it suddenly accelerated forwards” straight towards the crowd of people.

“What had once been an atmosphere of celebration and joy and happiness suddenly turned into fear and terror and disbelief,” he says.

Clearly something happened prior to the chaos.

Careful now @Flexo

You are not supposed to point this out, else OA folks will consider it as a defence of the guy and will start calling you names.

No one died, so that’s a result.

Is that declared?
It looked horrible enough that few would be in critical state

There was a press conference about half an hour ago with the police, paramedic, fire brigade and local councillor and it was mentioned that 20 people were injured and treated at the scene, 27 were taken to hospital with (I think?) 2 of them having serious injuries.

The fireman present said that when they arrived 4 people, including 1 child, were trapped under the car! and they had to lift it to free them. No-one has been confirmed dead and they didn’t say any injuries were life-threatening. So this looks like a good outcome, considering.

Just noticed I didn’t answer this properly.

There are 4 videos
1st & 2nd - Liverpool fans kicking & punching the car and opening the door. The rear window was intact in that instance. You can see the car drive up.

3rd - Car drives through a lane with rear window broken. The car drives a long distance in this video.

4th - Car in the middle of the crowd, surrounded by the crowd with police standing nearby and that’s when the incident happened. The car gets halted & the driver arrested.

It’s clear that these incident are linear and there is no report of the car hitting anyone along the way apart from the primary incident. Thereby the incident took place minutes after Liverpool fans started harrassing the driver.

To be absolutely clear, I am not defending the guy.

So your point is what? That the Liverpool fans are to blame for people who had nothing to do with the incident being run over?

What is it you want people’s take away from this to be? The guy driving the car did it, he did it to people who were nowhere near his car as the video I had the misfortune to watch clearly showed, and there is no justification or mitigating it.

Imagine that this incident is Hillsbrough. Trion has decided to adopt the role of The Sun.

I actually did think that last night. He just needs to start claiming that some Liverpool fans robbed the victims and he’s there.

I would need the timeline of all these actions confirmed before assessing any ‘reason’ for what happened. Not that it matters per se but out of interest.

It would be good to know it was not pre-mediated even if the effect on those injured is not lessened by that. The thought of any clubs fans not being able to celebrate the joy of their team’s trophy wins free from fear, would be extremely concerning and I would be slightly happier to know that isn’t the case.

Regardless it is a devastating event and the driver is ultimately to blame for his actions and he will be sentenced for it.

Aside from that I don’t think Trion is being as ridiculous or purposefully an asshole like is being made out here tbh. There are potentially very dangerous activities that happened prior (assumed timeline), that may have led to the guy driving into the crowd, by acknowledging those it doesn’t mean anyone is justifying the resulting action.

Police should be asked questions as to how this happened too. Great they made the quick arrest but worrying it even occurred.

Take-away

  • This case shouldn’t be dismissed as some lunatic who came with terrorist intent.
  • Investigation should take place on why police didn’t ensure that vehicles were banned from a street scheduled to have a large crowd.
  • Why didn’t police notify pre-parked cars(which were already parked in the route) to not use their cars?
  • Lesson for fans/any crowd that their provocation can lead to harm on others.
