What we saw in those 90 minutes were literally the best and worst of us. Cutthroat opening 30 mins or so, Liverpool could not handle us.
Anfield is the toughest place to go in the league, lets not get it twisted. Liverpool knew they were getting spanked and had to turn it into a fight to get anything from the game. The game changed on Xhaka and Alexander-Arnoldâs moment. This was the catalyst that turned the place into the cauldron we have always suffered with. After that we hardly got a look in.
We lost any control of the game the moment Odegaard was taken off. It honestly felt the old onslaughts we used to have there.
Ramsdale deserves the biggest plaudits. This guy single handedly kept us in the game countless times with legitimate world class saves. Martinelli was great in the 1st but I feel that pass at the end will haunt us.
Not winning from 2-0 up is disappointing, but honestly Liverpool could have banged in 4 goals on another day. Coming out of that fire with a point is not the end of the world. None of our guys have had to deal with a title charge at this stage of the season (except newbies Zin and Jesus) and have never felt pressure like this. Itâs a new experience for all and this sort of game will do wonders for these lot going forward.
Having slept on it, it is a decent point, a draw at Anfield after losing there for what? 6 seasons in a row? Iâll accept it but with a big what if feeling.
The drop-off in the second half reminds me of our performance at the Lane. Spurs wasted some real good chances and Ramsdale kept us in it that second half, we were riding our luck there too.
We need improve on that, need to be composed and controlled for 90 minutes in those big games. Etihad and St. Jamesâ Park yet to come, canât be losing our heads like we did yesterday or the titleâs gone.
As good as this team has done this season, they are not the finished product yet and so yesterdayâs performance and result are to be expected I suppose. We have had a near flawless season so far and depending on your perspective, weâve more or less answered all the questions that have been asked of
us so far. A few hiccups are inevitable with a young team and manager. But as @Bl1nk mentioned above, we cannot afford any more such drop offs in any of the remaining games. The next few games will tell us if weâve learnt from this or not.
What gives me great hope is that we are at the very beginning of a cycle at the club. These players will only get better in the next year or two. If we can make some astute additions in the summer, we are looking at a very bright future for the next 4 - 5 years if not more.
Woke up and first thing Iâm feeling is still disappointment ffs.
Gonna be another long week now til the West Ham game, 8 games left and no room for error. Leicester certainly wonât be doing us any favours on Saturday.
Exactly the same tbh. Went the gym but canât stop analysing the game either.
Them Arnold, Salah,Henderson triangles are still winding me up.
That lack of tracking back is driving me insane thinking about it.
No very true, but I feel that it was a turning point in the game and it gave Liverpool the confidence and energy to try to pin us back which they didâŚ
