Liverpool Vs Arsenal (Premier League) 2-2

I was actually thinking this having just watched it on Motd again.
Quite a bit of distance between the players too and the keeper was always going too commit.

Don’t know about anyone else but my emotions are still all over the place after that match. I’ve had a headache since half time and I haven’t even been drinking. I am pleased we got a point but gutted we ended up drawing after being 2-0 up. I’m frustrated by individual errors (Xhaka, Holding, Zinny) but can’t be more proud of the way they collectively have played this season to even be in this title race and give us hope. I honestly haven’t felt like this after a match for a long time.

This was always a difficult fixture and pleased it is out of the way. Just hope we can regain our composure and win the next two games before we go to City. Days like this is the joy and curse of being a footballer supporter, but I wouldn’t give this up for anything!

It was a poor ball and he played it too late

I’m trying not to be down on the team, yeah being 2-0 up and not winning sucks but…

We’re the youngest team in the league, just gone on a 7 match winning streak and have 73 points from 30 games.

I’ll take dropping a 2-0 at Anfield and drawing being top of the league in April over getting routinely smacked at Anfield by 4 or 5 and being 8th in April like we were as little as 24 months ago.

Arteta made some mistakes but he also got so much right this season. our young team lost our way in a hostile environment after a great start but it happens.

Honestly so proud of this young team, they might hit 90+ points and if that’s enough it’ll be gutting but I’ll just have to say well done City.

Keep believing people were still in this thing, limited margin for error now and must get a result at the Etihad but we have a shot, no time to feel sorry for ourselves.

I think that sums the situation up perfectly! I hope the players and Arteta take the positives and move forward.

This team has given me so much joy watching them in the middle of the night this season, likeable young, attractive and fearless in most cases.

I’m not going to pack it in on them because they had a bad half at Anfield.

City are a juggernaut we know that, that’s what we’re dealing with, but here we are in April on top of the league, it’s so hard to get into the position we are currently in. I’m not willing to pack it in and I’m sure as hell don’t believe Arteta and this young group are either.

We go again at West Ham and give it everything we have.

Which is why I’m pissed off. Everyone seems to think we’ll be there or there abouts for the next few seasons but we have to take the chance this season. A close second would mean little.

We can finish 16th next season if we win the title this year, couldn’t give a flying fuck.

Yes I hear you it’s a golden opportunity and no sure things in sport despite being young etc.

I do think we’re capable of having a really good 5 year period though, I’ll be shattered if we don’t win the title but I don’t expect this team to fall of a cliff anytime soon.

I’m loving the positivity, and it is great to see Arsenal giving us all hope again. Irrespective of what happens this season, the potential of this team is immense.

Frustrating that we didn’t maintain more control over the match after going 2-0 up but that’s as hard an environment to do so as exists in football. I’m disappointed we didn’t win but also very glad we didn’t lose, both for the psychological impact and because that single point could end up massive.

The bottom line is that we need to stay focused, get 6/6 in the next two, then get some kind of result at the Etihad. It’s still all to play for and there will likely be a few more unexpected twists and turns before the end.

I actually think the mental blow of losing would have been more devastating than the point we would have lost with it.

2 late Liverpool goals resulting in a win, wild scenes at Anfield and the media talk would have made for a really grim week.

I certainly don’t think we’ll go shit or anything but unless city drop a clanger/Pep leaves, I don’t think we get a better chance than this.

Confident we’ll be regular top 4 finishers with this team under Mikel but winning the thing is a whole different story. Liverpool have 1 PL title to show for all their dominance over 5 years.

It is unbelievable that we’re even in this position and that’s great credit to everyone at the club, been a fantastic season so far but now it simply has to happen, we have to get over the line in whatever fashion.

Its been 19 years and I’ve had enough, beat those cunts at the Etihad and bring the fucking title home.

This is a ridiculous statement. We have a young team and Arteta and Edu will be looking to strengthen again in the summer. Utd are rebuilding. Liverpool will need to rebuild. Chelsea are all over the place. Spurs are in the mud. Next season, we can compete with City again and we can continue to do so in years to come. Saka, Martinelli, Saliba, Odegaard, White and all our great young players will continue to develop and get better. This season is just the start!

It’s not ridiculous though. It’s the toughest League in the world and awash with money. Rebuilds can happen quickly for Liverpool and United in the transfer market.
As has been mentioned Liverpool have had a great side but only come up with one title for all that effort.
If we don’t win it this season you just don’t know what effect that has on this side.

Cool mate we’ll disagree then :+1:t3:

Yes but you could have said that about us after missing out on top 4 last season. We have got stronger and the players have continued to develop. This is a special group of players and I genuinely believe that they can achieve great things. I know what you and @Starboy are saying about taking your chances, but we are still on a journey and the team will be strengthened further.

Yeah we don’t know what it’ll do to the side if we fall short, but I believe we can keep contending. It’s bloody hard to win but I remember lots of people saying if Liverpool don’t do it in 18/ 19 they won’t get a better chance. They went on to win it the following season.

Well tbf they’d just won a Champions League and probably had a stronger squad than us.
Look I’m not being pessimistic on this group as they’re giving us a great season and whatever happens we will add players no doubt.
Just I wouldn’t bank on necessarily taking anything for granted in this League.
Chelsea are a mess and Liverpool have been poor on and off the field this season but Newcastle have emerged now.
United are moving forward and City are just City.

Woke up still feeling the disappointment :pensive:

I do still have hope, but being in a shoot out with City of all teams , knowing we still have to play them, fills me with dread a bit.

Who knows, the dream is still alive and anything can happen in this league, but those 2 dropped points would have made me feel a lot more confident.
