Lisandro Martinez

Is Charlie Wyett the prick that ruined my day with the Buendia to Villa exclusive?

Edit: Yep, he’s the one.

Accept it you windmill merchants

Pretty fucking stupid bid if United are coming in hot with £40 :person_facepalming:t3:

I reckon we’ll be fine if they bid £40

That reminds me of the old Dick Law style of negotiating.

Didn’t the tap in merchant report this a couple of days back? 40 million Euros

And clogs!!!

I get not wanting to pay above and negotiating prices but if the Raphina transfer has taught us anything it’s that if United really want this they’ll come in and pay exactly what Ajax wanted all along and whip him from us.

Hurry the fuck up

Yeah, but you can’t actually prevent that from happening unless the player wants to join you badly enough that they will quickly just decide rather than waiting to see who else comes into the picture. Raphinha was never going to do that, he was always going to wait for at least Barcelona and probably also Chelsea and whoever else.

If we’re in a world where United are going to jump in, pay 50m to Ajax, and offer ridiculous personal terms to Martinez, then we’re likely to lose him no matter what we do.

But if we’re in a world where United aren’t going to get involved, we might as well negotiate the best deal we can rather than go right to Ajax’s asking price.

We don’t know which world we’re in so we might as well negotiate.

If we offered asking price or even over asking price, the clubs gazumping us will still do the inevitable. They are likely waiting in the wings to see if we can get a cut price deal so that they too save some money on the deal.

Letting us negotiate first may save them money but it will likely also give them a chance to see what will seal the deal in their favour - be it asking, over asking or under asking…Not like a players agent is going to keep our bids secret if they can maximise their earnings

What you said makes sense but after losing out on one top target, we definitely don’t want to lose another and so should do everything we can to minimize that risk.

I would say give Ajax what they want, of they still dither, it means they want a bidding war and then we can focus on other options.

I’d just not go through the media tbh. This is where the meltdowns start.

This is what backup options are for. Either you think the guy is worth it and you stump up the cash or you lose out because you want ‘fair’ value and have to be satisfied with you second option.

I’d hope the club has another target lined up and in the works in case someone with more money does trump us.

@afcstuff

:rotating_light: Arsenal have improved their proposal for Lisandro Martinez - €40m + €5m in bonuses. Ajax have not responded yet. Although Martinez is happy at Ajax, he is ‘seduced’ by going to the Premier League. [@CLMerlo][#afc]

As if a professional footballer would use the word “seduced” to describe going to the PL.

Some good news

Watching it now.

Confidence has been shattered. It feels as if Ten Hodgson wants Martinez, he’ll get him.
