So he’s a left-sided Tomiyasu.

This looks like what I’d have produced as a 4 year old if someone gave me a football pitch outline to draw on.

Those diagrams make my head hurt.

I think those diagrams are a bit cocked up - per the CB template he has 0 final third entries (why is that in a CB’s template anyway?!), but per the midfield one he does 7.9 per match and is in the top percentile.

And then apparently that’s not judged at all as part of the full back’s template…

Good sign it hasn’t been rejected yet.

Hope we can get this one over the line. I don’t view United as competition for this as I think they’re too tied up with the FDJ deal and it seems they’re so heavy on the negotiations now that they probably won’t be prepared to pay the €45-50m required to secure him

LB you say?
Certainly didn’t see this coming.

Tierney will be back to Celtic within the next 3 years.

At first he’ll come in as our starting LB. Tierney is unreliable (fitness wise).

If Tierney comes back we’ll see if Martinez starts as CB over Gab/White. But Martinez will definitely start the season as our primary LB.

All the Ajax fans saying he will be massively wasted at LB??

Did he play much at LB for Ajax?

Not much.

Three games in the last three seasons, according the FBRef.

Ok not sure how I see him displacing Tierney to begin with then

It’s not about playing there or not in the past.
It’s whether his profile can fit what Arteta wants to do with his fullbacks, which is very much an extra midfielder in the middle of the park.

If Lisandro is better at LCB than at LB, then he’ll probably replace Gabriel from the XI? This deal, though welcome, is not as urgent as looking for a proper LB imo, given how injury prone Tierney is.

Yeah, makes sense if Arteta is looking to play him at LB, as thats an area which needs our attention more than the CB spot right now. Also gives us the flexibility of playing this guy as a CB and Tierney at LB as needed.

This signing is so much better than Hickey.

I am with those who think if he is not coming to sort the left back issue, this would be a luxury signing.
Gabriel is more than adequate centerback to rely on.
