Lisandro Martinez

Mike is top tier in Holland. 10m euros is like 8m pounds? We should get this over the line.

€40m + bonuses is a great deal for a CB tbh

If we have to pay 48m or whatever it is then there’s even more reason why Saliba is worth the same amount if not more.

Signing him does protect us from a Saliba departure next season.

I suspect it’s his versatility that is pushing him up the priority list. LB, CB and 6 apparently.

And tbf aside from the 6 position, he could potentially start right away in the other 2 spots given how well he’s regarded.

I’m basing it on absolutely nothing but I really think he’d come straight in for Tierney’s position. The fact Mikel nearly did that with wildman Tavares early last seasons illustrates there’s something about Tierney’s game he isn’t happy with. I’d honestly have no issues with this if it were to be the case.

I can see him being our first-choice LB start of the season. Though I’m very interested to see him as CB. I’d love a Martinez - Saliba pairing in the EL group stages, see what kind partnership can develop there.

It’ll be hard to tell what happens exactly. But overall it’s a good problem to have. Gabriel will miss games, White will miss games. Having Martinez who can fill CB (and LB) is just perfect. But we may see Gabriel lose his place for Martinez, that will however also depend on Tierney’s availability.

Interesting

What does the bottom one mean?

Don’t sell at all

If he was that good then that option should be winning :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

€40+ million for a back up centre back? Seems like an awful lot. Wouldn’t be surprised if Gabriel is on his way out then.

Nah.

Pretty clear that Arteta and Edu have gotten serious financial backing and been told to go out and get the quality and quality depth we need to be competitive.

We’re likely gonna play 55 games next season and will have 5 subs, so we need a stacked squad.

We aren’t a selling club anymore like we were under Wenger

Read today that Juventus will make serious overtures for him if De Ligt is sold to Chelsea. I just don’t see him leaving unless we receive a huge offer which we won’t

He’ll get paid a lot more in the Premier League so he’ll force a move. I see United as our biggest threat.

We ain’t paying all that so that he can be cover.
It’s the Ramsdale deal all over again. Being advertised as cover despite the high fee and then being given the starting spot as soon as Mikel finds an opening. There’s clearly something Mikel really likes about him and considering the player is keen to join, I’m sure he was told what the plans are for him.

Couple of players in our team that should worry about their starting spot next season. The bastard is versatile too so it could CB, LB, DM or CM.

I think this one is the least likely to happen out of Tielemans, Raphinha and Martinez.

Just because there are so many clubs in for their key players they’re in danger of getting torn apart - so if Utd get Timber or Antony then we won’t get Martinez and vice versa.

I’m holding out hope of course but I think if one of these transfers was mostly likely to fail it would be this one.

The gap between Gabriel and White in terms of ball playing ability and avoiding pressure is big.

Arteta wants more of what White can do but he wants it at LCB. Gabriel place as starter is on the clock

I think out of the Ajax players left that want a move, he’s the most likely one to depart.
Timber was apparently specifically told by LvG to not move to Man Utd.
For Antony they’re asking an absurd fee.

So Lisandro is the odd one out and he’s keen to join.
I remember listening to Fabrizio either on his stream or podcast explaining which are the key parts of a deal and he said that personal agreement is usually the most important one. He used Guendouzi as an example with Marseille. Guendo received interest from other clubs but he only wanted Marseille which essentially forced our hands.
