Lionel Messi 🐐

He’s definitely re-signing with Barcelona. They’ll probably reduce his wage but give him some guaranteed lifetime contract after his next move (the MLS one he always says he wants to do).

Yeah by the sounds of it the deal is all but signed, seems to be no chance of him signing for City / PSG.

Which is a shame as I would’ve loved to have seen him in the Premier League, glad he didn’t decide to stat pad trophies in Ligue 1 mind.

It sounds like Barce are struggling to finance the deal they promised

Think Barca can win a CL in the next 4 years?

Can’t see it myself. Talent from La Masia isn’t there and they can’t really afford to buy the best

No chance without the right manager. No idea who that can be. All top names all tied up.

One last dance with Pep and Messi? Not sure why but I always thought he’d return.

Where does Pep even go after City?

By signing another contract at Barca he’s practically accepting not winning it again there.

It’s tough to say but I can’t see it personally tbh, I can see a period of serious domination from English clubs and PSG. Whilst they won’t be left behind per the traditional European elite may struggle to compete. The ESL for these was genuinely a necessity over just greed (although ofcourse greed was also a key part of it )

That said I do see Barça making wiser transfer decisions in the immediate future, reducing their spend may actually help the likes of Pedri develop.

PSG seems a natural move, maybe Juve. One of those two I’d wager.

After all their Oscar winning actors were gone (Alves, Suarez) and Busquets is retiring, their Golden Globe Award winning generation is almost gone and they will be shit for a while.

Get him signed!!! @Arsenal

He’s going to take one hell of a paycut where every he decideds to sign. Hopefully he doesn’t go back to Barca

I really want to see him at Manchester City just for a year at least. Watch the greatest in the PL for a year or two then off to the MLS for his career swansong.

Lionel, get our of your comfort zone and challenge the other league(s).

He should just retire. Especially if Argentina can pull off the Copa. Absolutely nothing left to prove and if he goes elsewhere this late in his career and for some reason it doesn’t work out the twitter nerds will be lining up to have a go.

Messi has scored 29 free kicks in the last five years, so in 3 years time he should equal Juninho’s 77.

Messi IS the greatest free kick taker ever. The sheer volume of goals such a short period is the clincher for me.

No doubt in my mind that he is the best free kick taker ever. Sheer amount and variety of it as well.

And I am glad to highlight that I have seen him score one live
