He had the right technique. It wasnāt going in often, and he wasnāt taking them too often, but he knew how to curl it and kinda had more control in those shots and was always close to scoring.
Ronaldo, even in his best free kick years, one day heād score an impossible screamer, and then later he flies a few into the crowd/outside of the stadium. Never had true consistency and full control. Drogba, for example, who had similar technique, was better and more consistent, but itās a crime Lampard was the no 1 FK taker at Chelsea (ffs) and prevented Drogba from scoring more.
I actually expected Messi to start scoring from the FKs regurarly much earlier, but he only truly decided to focus on them and master them at the later stage of his career when he was staring to lose the pace.
