Leicester City

Would’ve prefered if we had our 2nd game vs them with Puel still there :arteta: but shit happens. Maybe Rogers does well there.

He seemed to have some A1 finishing, however, his all round general play was rather lacking.

Now he seemingly can’t even finish, he’s fallen off hard at Leicester. Perhaps he was never a genuine prospect in the first place.

Will be interesting to see if Rodgers can get anything out of him, both he and Slimani cost a combined £54 million which looks like some seriously shitty business.

Leicester have a pretty decent squad, the aim for them should be the best of the rest outside of the top 6.

Think he ‘suffered’ from playing in a brilliant, all-round team that maybe made him look better than he did. I kind of get the same feeling with Jesus too.

But blowing a lead with three ganes somehow isnt bottling it?

Its a bigger botrle job the fewer games that are left, no?

It’s a tough one as they were on an 11 game winning streak with 3 games to play, so one could argue they were overdue to slip up at some point.

In saying that, they should have taken 7/9 in the last 3 vs Chelsea at home, Palace away & Newcastle at home.

I think it would be a bigger bottle job to have a massive lead with several games left and lose it, rather than be neck and neck with other teams as they were in the final moments and fail to get over the line.

Plus imo, a lot of what happened in those matches when they slipped wasn’t Rodgers fault. Take note of my use of the word “slipped”.

They had no business in the title race in the first place and only a freakish run of form got them there. They didn’t bottle anything, they just couldn’t sustain that run.

That’s my point exactly

Plus they had the best player in the league

“overdue” is no argument. If you find yourself in a situation where it is in your hands and you’re “overdue” a slip up, and you then slip up, then you bottled it.

Let’s be honest, if you take the word Liverpool out, and replaced it with Tottenham, if they were in the exact situation as Liverpool were that season, and then missing out on the title, everyone would 100% say on here, it’s a bottle job :giroud:

No one expected Liverpool to put themselves in the position like they managed, but they did. So when the title is within your grasp like that, you’ve basically lost it, when it’s in your control to actually win it.

Definitely a bottle job. Just like United in 2012. That was an 8 point surrender with 6 games to go :joy:

The best bottle job was in 1989 when we beat Liverpool in the last game of the season to win the League title.

We had thrown away a twelve point lead at the top of the league, and all Liverpool had to do was not lose at home by more than two clear goals, which they hadn’t done for a few seasons, but they still did it.

Being consistently asked by a group of people what Scottish team you support usually meant you had a fifty fifty chance of getting your ass beat in Northern Ireland.
