I enjoyed the FA Cups too!
Oil money wants to ship the PL and/or CL.

Do we really want to turn into Citeh South? Evidently, it’s the only way to win anything of note now. The game’s gone.
I welcome our Qatari overlords
Let’s hope so, with this kind of backing we will be back where we belong, kings of English football.
I just can’t get behind becoming a sportwashing club for Qatar. Its not like I’d stop supporting the team or anything like that and I’m sure that competing with the top clubs again would be very fun, but I’d really rather we do it some other way.
This is one reason I was relatively warm to the Super League proposal. All the options are shit at this point and reconfiguring the economics of the game through something like the SL is the least shit. The status quo is total shit for a club like Arsenal and its supporters, we could do absolutely everything right as a club (which we won’t of course) and still not be able to win the PL given the degree of inequality between the richest and the not-quite-so-rich. Becoming part of the Gulf sportwashing machine is also shit.
Already preparing my self mentally to go on about how we’re ruining football and our owners are corruption to mankind while celebrating all our wins and amazing players internally.
Going to turn on the hypocrisy so hard that I lose pieces of myself and don’t know what is what anymore. Be worth it though.
The only counter I can give to that is at-least the smaller clubs will get a larger chunk of broadcasting and match day money. A shit Arsenal ain’t bringing in views or ticket sales.
What tier ITK is missmelina7 @GC-Maniac ?
I don’t think it’s hypocritical, we hate on City, PSG and Chelsea, but it’s not like we don’t out spend lower clubs to maintain our position. We hate those other teams because they spend more than us, and we feel like they don’t deserve their success because of the small to little history they have. However Arsenal are a historically massive club, we should have the financial power to out spend anyone.
It’s like @Stroller was saying a while back, the idea that these teams are run by a group of workers coming out the factories is false. All of these clubs were owned and started by the elites. “The buenos aires boys rowing club” etc…
I say bring on our new Qatari overlords and let the good times roll.
I’m so ready. Bring on the Bond villain owner with mountains of dirty cash!
I think I’ve said before if I could turn off the Arsenal interest it would have happened already. I’m someone who hasn’t bought any club merch in nearly a decade, would really have to think hard about going to a game again anyway and as it’s stands I’m pretty unlikely to pay for sky sports again any time soon. So if this actually happened I’d continue all that safe in the knowledge that the club doesn’t need my money anyway and I’d continue to watch from afar.
Can’t control it so if it happens it happens.
Not sure but I don’t trust Edu for anything.
Does all this Qatari talk have legs? Seems like the typical attention seeking moves
There’s no way they’d paid billions for Arsenal branding basically, there’s no precedent for that level of spend on a football club
I don’t think it has legs. As far as I can tell it all just traces back to a few cryptic tweets from the same joker who is a member of the Qatari royal family and probably has some connections but clearly isn’t a principal with PSG or the Qatar Investment Authority.
I don’t see the money as an issue though in the abstract. They’ve spent like 100 billion by some estimates just on infrastructure for the World Cup, which itself is just like a big public relations spectacle in their grand plan to attract tourism, investment, and real estate development from the global elite as a way to smooth their eventual transition away from a fossil fuel reliant economy. They are playing such a bigger game than football that a couple billion to buy Arsenal is nothing.
Takeovers past and recent doesn’t really back your point. There isn’t really any evidence these mega rich royals are buying football clubs are a record expense.
The calations dont add up either. Newcastle for example was quoted at £350m. It’s just more practical and cost efficient to invest in transfers rather than buying the club’s shares
PSG and City were not big brands nationally when they were acquired on the cheap. 1bn on transfers is the going price to transform a club
Pfffft bring them in, could care less where they’re form at this point. Football has been fucked for way longer than an impending Arsenal takeover, I’m just surprised it hasn’t happened sooner.
Tradition, class and humility died at this club when the Americans came in and took a lions share.
I’d rather see the best players here under ownership that wants to see success than the shit show we’ve currently got going on!
I’d have to really take a hard look at walking away if Qatar bought the club.
Yes, they’re all part of the awful late capitalist system that gave us the Kroenkes in the first place but using something I love to distract from the fact you’re a government that still has slavery is kind of brain melting for me.
I’d still stay on OA because I enjoy the company but I think it would just accelerate the disconnect I’ve felt from the club since Stan took everything private. Not like I had shares or anything but there were still some people who did, who could in theory hold his feet to the fire.
I couldn’t give a fuck who owns arsenal personally.
I watch them for the football not the owners
Which team do you reckon would be the main beneficiary of your extra shirt funds? Or would the college fund finally ramp up?
