Kai Havertz (29)

I definitely see the footballing fit for us but 60m and 200k per week is more than I would be hoping to pay.

Would honestly rather sign Xavi Simons. But Arteta clearly loves that PL experience.

Just sign Maddison Mikel!

I’m a bit more open to the idea of Havertz now. Just seems to have come completely out of the blue.

He is a good player but his finishing is weak, guy will be brilliant at everything and just fail at the end.

Ā£60m?! :gabriel:

I’m really not sure how I feel about this link. Before he came to Chelsea I seem to recall thinking why are we not in for him…however can’t say I have been impressed by him. Attitude reminds me of Ozil too, so seems a very un-Arteta player. I would much rather have Mason Mount from Chelsea, but only after we have signed Rice and Caicedo.

This move surely spells the end for ESR if it happens?

not quite the end but his opportunity will be very limited, and he has to perform in limited chances.

It seems more likely RIP Vieira but probably not great for ESR either.

This is my worry. Can’t have Havertz, Trossard AND ESR all there as back up surely?

I’m all over this move now.

I voted no but would probably be happy enough if it was around 45-50 mill and he’s a backup for all of the front 3 and the Odegaard role.

I mean if all you care about is the price then sure.

If you want the player to have a pre-season, understand the team and the roles, especially for a player who could conceivably play in multiple positions, then moving sooner is better.

I don’t remember anyone on here this season saying they wanted Havertz so why all of a sudden has he become so popular with our supporters?

Chelsea want a similar price to what we recently bid for Caicedo and Havertz hasn’t strung together more than a couple of decent performances last season.

If Chelsea are selling to us, that should be enough of a clue how underwhelming he is.

We could get Maddison for half what they want and on less wages and not help Chelsea out either.

Speaking for myself, it just never occurred to me he would be available to us.

same here

That’s the same with a lot of signings. Trossard and Jorginho weren’t on the top of anyones transfer wishlist pre-January

I think it’s just experience in general. We have had our run with projects before. I think we need more sure things to step up. Even Havertz who hasn’t had the best time at Chelsea and only 24 has plenty of experience in the PL, CL and even at international level. This is the guy that won Chelsea the CL back in 2021.

Speak for yourself. Was a huge Trossard fan (almost Zaha level). Fair with Jorginho, but I liked the signing a lot.

I like Havertz as a player but don’t really see where he fits in.

As Leper said, he (Havertz) was never really on the radar. I really wanted Joao Felix in January and Havertz can do similar things.
