I’m not going to judge a player on one stint at a disjointed team. Outside of Chelsea he has looked good. Even at Chelsea he has had spells where you can see there is a player there.
I’m not desperate for him or anything and if we don’t get him I won’t be bothered. But I think some people are being overly harsh.
I mean we already have ESR who performed at a higer level last season compared to anything Havertz has done at Chelsea. We’re about to sign Nelson to a £100k deal too, these guys are pieces that have already contributed and aren’t even starters. Fabio Vieira also isn’t a total lost cause either imo despite a rough first season. We knew he wasn’t oven ready before he signed.
I dont see the value adding Kai, there’s nothing particularly exceptional about his abilities that makes him a must buy. Doesn’t strike me as the type of player who’d be satisfied with a rotational role either. Seems like a very unnecessarily indulgent signing
I don’t think either ESR or Nelson has shown the ability to play on the right at a high level, either on the wing or as the attacking midfielder on that side, and Vieira just seems like at best a complete gamble for next year and at worst a bust that is better to fail fast with than to give more chances.
No, unfortunately not. It’s appears the clown in charge of Chelsea messed-up the FFP. I’ve heard it said on The Athletic (I think) that they may have to rake in £100-150m in transfer fees before the new FFP year starts in July.
People always say this but in some fashion it is. Season ticket prices are up, merchandise more expensive, half time food more expensive.
Now an extra quid per pizza slice ain’t paying for Havertz and I’m sure most comes from elsewhere but it’s not like we don’t get impacted by the club spending more and more money.
I’ll always care about the cost of a player, from a perceived value I have of them and from the overall club finances perspective.
Honestly? Id take Havertz. Yeah he’s been a bit under the radar for Chelsea but you have to remember in 2 seasons he’s played under 3 different managers. I more than trust Arteta here. And he is incredible for Germany, the talent is definitely there
