Havertz is class, been a fan for a while. Would be an awesome signing.

After we wrap up Rice, we go for Kaicedo

In other words, he is a victim, just play there because the team doesn’t have one that the coach wants

Disappointed in this signing.

Arteta’s definitely going full Unai Emery ‘let’s outscore the opposition’ instead of fixing the core reasons why we fail — our defence.

£60m for this guy; we shouldn’t be paying anymore than about £45m for him. If the reports are for real and Arteta is really interested in him, then I’ll back the plan — but at first glance I don’t like it.

I guess he’d make us more flexible and dynamic going forward in that #8 role… but we’re just going to conceded even more goals as it stands lol and that’s the reason why we failed to win the league.

He’s an improvement on Xhaka that’s for sure, but not someone I would’ve gone for.

There’s also the problem, that If he/whoever fills Xhaka’s slot gets injured then we have to rely on ESR; which is quite sad tbh.

Huh

In the #8 role, I think he’d deliver better performances than Xhaka.

If not, then we shouldn’t touch with a bargepole.

I suppose we need somebody to replace Xhakas one-footedness.

Could be a Joelinton style transformation as an 8, (he’s clearly better than Joelinton, just a comparison on positioning changes)

Only thing is Joelinton is a much more intense player and is a proper grinder with regard to work rate but then again Havertz is obviously a lot better talent-wise.

With Havertz there would clearly be a plan to harness his strengths here which never seemed to be the case at Chelsea so I suppose that’s a positive from the start.

Gunnerblog compares him to van Persie

Tuchel(who coached him) and Henry(who played with Robin) did too.

Tuchel also likened him to Berbatov and Bergkamp. That’s high praise.

These RVP comparisons seem to ignore the statistical reality that Havertz has been a subpar finisher over his career so far. He isn’t Jesus-level bad but he has slightly underperformed XG over his career. Maybe you can argue that this is a bit psychological and he has all the tools to improve that part of his game but RVP was a killer in front of goal and that is a big part of what made him who he was.

Yeah, that comparison is the definition of hyperbole

Come on now

Hahaha, is that what he looks like?

Always makes me giggle whne you hear these voices all the time via a platform and then they look nothing like you expect them too :rofl:

I don’t like the RVP comparisons but at the same time, I feel like RVP only became that “killer” in front of goal in his last few seasons here and onwards after that (unfortunately).

At this rate we’ll complete Havertz before Rice.

Bayern didn’t get him before he went to Chelsea hard to see why it’d be different now

May turn out to be a masterstroke or foolish on their part, time will tell but they made the right decision so far
