James Maddison

I really rate Maddison but he’s not consistent enough

Buendia at £33m was a better value deal.

I’ll pre-empt that these are rumours but either way…Ben White £40m, Maddison £60m…why not just make a play for Grealish?

Because we never learn.
We’ve spent around 200m accumulating an array of underwhelming CB’s in recent seasons, yet still don’t have any that are top four quality.

Our CM’s like Xhaka, Elneny, Partey, etc, cost around 100m, but we wouldn’t pay the extra few million to get a proven top level one like Kante who we could have had for 40m

As for strikers, we wasted nearly 150m on Aubameyang, Lacazette, Perez when, if we had shown more urgency, we could have had Aubameyang a few seasons before, for not much more than 30m.

Buying unproven players to save a few million Is a false economy and it’s why our transfer policy stinks.

Stop talking big and act big.
Just get the job done and pay what it takes to get the best players for positions that we need top quality in.
This is what top clubs do to be euccessful.

Yeah exactly, our defence is good enough just give Saliba a run and get Grealish in.

Also for people thinking why players would want to come here, taking out the whole London thing and history, we are still one of the wealthiest clubs in the world with the 4/5th largest following online. Players who come to Arsenal see their social media profile jump by millions. We are a very attractive club still, not sure how much longer that will last though if we keep missing out on Europe and finishing 8th in the league.

He’s clearly a rather large Arsenal fan too.

He said in an interview he used to support Man Utd.

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good narrative.

Anybody else want us to sign him now so Leicester fans pipe down?
This disrespect cannot go unpunished.

To be fair - they are much much much better than us; their disrespect is warranted.

Got slapped by Slavia Prague and finished 5 points ahead of us in one of our worst seasons.

They definitely had a better season than us but they’re certainly not a much much much better team.

That sounds like recency-bias to me.

They also won the title a few years ago; they are building players up and improving them substantially; Kante, Vardy, Mahrez, Maguire, Maddison.

They’re a club with a great culture, that is consistently (over) performing year in year out.

I find what they have to be entirely aspirational.

That’s two years they’ve finished higher. Throw in the League and that’s 3 out of 5 and CL run to the quarter finals.
That mugs us right off and they are now a direct rival of ours.

Only 2 of them play for them and out of those 2 one is past it and the other might move. Even pointing to good recruitment is going back 9/7/6 years with 3 of those

Despite that they do have the right to see us as rivals. Albeit richer rivals who can fund their own spending spree

Got to agree with @rednwhitearmy and @Stroller

I feel like we’re more than just one small step away from Leicester. Our problems are systemic, whereas they now have an infrastructure which, if a few bricks go missing, no one is blowing their house down.

I think we have to get out of this ideology that we’re a sleeping giant. From the board to the manager, the manager to the players, the players to toxic elements of the fanbase- the club just feels rotten.

I’m not sure how much they improved some of these…

Maguire I wanted us to sign for Hull, I’m not sure how much he actually improved at Leicester.

Mahrez took a year to adapt (and I think arrived slightly injured), so that was mainly just a good signing rather than an improvement

Kante was good from the start (from what I remember), so again another good signing.

Vardy and Maddison - probably, hard to say how much is improvement due to Leicester and how much is just giving them a chance at a higher level

Maddison is a quality player and fits the profile we are screaming out for.

Trouble is Leicester won’t sell for less than 60-70m. English premium included.

I feel Buendia might have been better value, but if we have the money then we should test Leicester’s resolve. At the end of the day, we are a bigger club by miles.
