Jack Grealish

Such a bland boring milquetoast club, taking the complete enjoyment and emotion out of football.

Analogous to their stupid fake soulless country.

This is the tweet I had in my head, but I think the genesis of this opinion may have been Jamie Carragher.

MNF analysis.

Yeah even if we do turn to Liverpool they spent £70m on Mane and Salah at a time when they were considered big outlays and it cost them world record sums to get VVD and Alison. On top of that, they also had a season of virtually no injuries.

Just all a bit disheartening the game in general at times.

I guess this is how all the German clubs feel like trying to compete against Bayern.

FFP was a nice pipe dream whilst it lasted.

Another mistake we bought into when it was obvious would never work.

All the people complaining about the Super League ruining British football are strangely quiet when Man City whip out their FFP busting chode.

Dry your eyes pal

This season will bring more tears.

People have had many years to get accustomed to rich clubs spending lots of money to improve their chances of success, which is not true of a European Super League that you can neither be relegated from or promoted to.

They’re quite different things, I wouldn’t expect them to garner precisely the same reactions.

True but they also sold well, and immediately reinvested what they had and bought well.

I remember watching them in the 2018 CL final and thinking I feel for Liverpool after Salah was injured by Ramos, because Real had a star studded bench which probably cost about as much as Liverpool’s first team. I was thinking like who Pool going to bring on? And then on the opposite side you see Real just casually bring Bale of bench.

For me and I’ve said this loads of times, (which is why I’ve been mostly critical of Arteta’s appointment) Liverpool is the model we should be following, a very good coach with smart investment. It’s a model that’s attainable by us, we will never have the funds city have and won’t be able to copy them in style or in purchases so point trying to emulate them, which I feel Arteta wants to do.

Honestly when you break down that Liverpool squad, how many of the players are genuine elite world class players? But the system they play elevated all of the players to the next level. We could do that if we had the right coach, right now we have to hope that after serious investment this year Arteta magically turns out to be that coach.

Almost as clever as spending £50m on Ben White. :henry2:

He’ll sign for Man Shitty . The chance to win trophies plus a biblical wage will turn his head. All he’ll get at The Emirates is his own personal treatment table .

That’s true but it’s a shame we don’t go for proven PL quality like Grealish, rather than spend plenty on players like Pepe, Xhaka, Mustafi, Partey, White, Lacazette, etc.

Man City are the biggest spenders but we have still spent more on a single player, when we bought Pepe, than they have.

Exactly.
They might have spent big but they have spent wisely and they got almost 200m for Suarez and Coutinho which they reinvested in the best players available.

The difference between them and us is that they chose a top European manager that knows what he’s doing to get the best players.

There’s not a player that Liverpool have bought that was out of our reach but because we have clowns running the club, from the board to Edu and the manager, we have wasted our resources.

People criticised Liverpool for spending 130m on VVD and Allison but we have wasted about 200m on several CB’s that aren’t even good enough for a mid table team.

There is nothing that Liverpool have done that we couldn’t.

I’ve maintained for years, without any real basis whatsoever, that when Grealish takes the step up it won’t work out.

For what it’s worth my friend has been saying the same for the last year, he’s just not sold on him at all.

Jim White in the mud

Villa fans talking a lot of shit on Reddit about how their ownership won’t sell Grealish because they’re ambitious. It’s going to end in tears for them and I’m here for it.

I hope we bid for Grealish just to fuck with them.

Remember when ppl here thought we were gonna sign him?? Lmaooo rippppp :joy::joy::joy:

I remember lots of people hoping we’d sign him, not thinking we would.

They were saying the same thing about bidding for ESR after their EPIC SWOOP for Buendia.

It’s all a bit much for me. We’ll see if they can back it up in results next season but right now it feels a bit Everton Redux.
