We still need a top striker. Add a top goalscorer to this team and we can really compete in all competitions. I’m back to my original thinking that Toney isn’t the right option for us.

It is if Havertz is our only consistent presence there. Depth is certainly needed but like you say, maybe not top of the list since the new year.

Nketiah is younger, on a long term contract and plays for a big club. The sort of player that Brentford would be bending over backwards for.
Spurs bought Johnson for 50m from Forest. Is he more established than Nketiah?
There are many reasons why Brentford will need to be realistic with their Toney valuation.
Eddie proves nothing yet, and he is not 18, he is 24 already.

35m isn’t big money for a Premier League. Nor is 40m. 100m is.
Doubt we go for Toney anyway but think he’d be a smart pick up. Anything over 60m, less smart.
We definitely still need a striker. I don’t trust our front 5 to not go on a goalless run again in the future. We need a killer in front of goal — final jigsaw to this team in my view. Another 1-2 back up DMs/Wingers and we’re golden.
