Lol. I won’t support Arsenal if there’s a gambling addict there. Yeah, that’s exactly what I said :joy:

Gambling addicts let everyone around them down. As Toney has at Brentford. I don’t want someone like that at the club because they’ll let us down too.

I have no problem with an addict playing for the club, provided they are getting help and accept responsibility for their actions.

But that interview he gave makes him sound like he isn’t doing the latter. Still lying and deflecting. For that reason I wouldn’t want him around the club at all.

I didn’t like his Diary of a CEO interview. He clearly doesn’t see the problem in betting on himself to score. On a basic level, he’s backing himself. On a professional level, he’s compromising his teammates potentially. If he’s got money (who knows how much) on him to score first and the better option is to pass to a team mates rather than shoot, subconsciously, he’s going to take the shot.

The lack of accountability was worrying. I genuinely don’t care enough to not want him here though. Imagine saving Jesus (or Saka) for the Champions League in the knowledge that Toney will be leading the line in the league. I’d be confident of goals.

Doesn’t seem an Arteta signing, but he did seem to have genuine interest in that muppet Calvert-Lewin and Toney is far superior.

I don’t have a problem with him playing for Arsenal purely based on his abilities as a footballer. I actually think he would be a good asset.

But I have massive doubts about his character. His inability to be honest and take responsibility for his actions is a really big red flag for me. And I think it would be for Arteta as well.

Love the player, think he’d help elevate our squad and attack but if the guy can’t wrap his head around why it’s a problem to bet on games he played in — and he doesn’t sound like he gets it at all — idk if it’s a good fit.

if we sign Toney then the only thing I hope he’s addicted to is goals

Maybe we can hire a hypnotist to replace his love for gambling with a love for scoring.

Rumours surfacing again of our possible interest in him for January. Signing him would surely spell the end pretty much for Nketiah?

I think with the injuries Jesus has had since he’s been here and that last season we were nearly in a situation where we had no recognised first team strikers, Arteta wants another option upfront.

Also with so many games this season, Toney will be used, either from the bench or starting, while Arteta rests other players to keep them fresh.

For around 40m, he would be a bargain, considering he’s a consistent and experienced PL striker but there’ll be plenty of other clubs looking to get him for that sort of money.

When does Tony’s ban end? If he’s still banned into January then he might not be the best option.

i think Toney would be great

He is back by then, although he might not be match fit but at the end of the season, he could be more than useful, if we’re still in the CL and competing for the title.

It was the lack of depth in quality that saw us lose the title last season and Arteta has certainly got that with the players he bought in the last couple of windows, like Trossard, Raya, Havertz, Jorginho, Rice and possibly Timber.

The advantage with Toney is that he’s consistently scored in the PL and won’t need long to adjust but it depends on if we can get him for a reasonable fee or not.

Just imagine Vieira and Odegaard and Saka and Saliba and Raya serving him some passes.

I have trouble seeing us signing him in January unless Eddie or Jesus gets hurt. I think we will sign a new CF at some point soon but it’ll be with Eddie leaving at the same time.

I like the idea of selling Eddie next summer when his stock is high and signing a CF who can more properly compete with Jesus, but if we do that I’d rather try to go for a really big talent like Ferguson (assuming he has a good season), even knowing that Brighton will charge an extortionate price. I’d be happy to make Ferguson next summer’s Rice.

One of Jesus/Nketiah will be leaving next season imho. Eddie is more likely if Toney ends up joining.

They’re both good, but that’s not enough firepower for us especially when Martinelli, Saka and Odegaard are yet to hit the levels they were at in the first half of last season.

Buy Toney have Jesus as our number one striker and number two right winger.
