When in Football has there ever been an example of a player who doesn’t have a massive goalscoring record suddenly becoming a big goalscorer just because he moved to a bigger club that creates more chances?

I still think we haven’t seen the best from him yet.
Even before he was injured - he had a very long goal drought.
I’m not saying he has to accomplish that without penalties. I’m saying that he isn’t a proven goalscorer to the extent that I’d back him to be a player capable of scoring as many as 30 goals in the league.
I’m including penalties in the total goal tally I think he’ll manage here.

Ivan Toney does have a big goal scoring record and it’s a disingenuous question because top teams tend to not sign strikers from lower teams if they don’t have a scoring record.
Toney outscored Jesus and Nketiah combined last season in a poor Brentford team. We were in a title race with two strikers who scored less than 14 goals from open play (I don’t get why this is a thing). Add Toney to our squad and the likelihood is he scores more in our system.

Being a cynical cunt, is a guy with an addiction of that nature somebody you trust to be mentally on top of his game, and rely on to perform?
From a risk perspective, I wouldn’t want anything to potentially disrupt the harmony and single-mindedness of the squad. Arteta has like some hive mind shit going on there. This could fuck that up.
Well, part of addiction recovery is accepting responsibility for your actions.
He hasn’t harmed anyone but broke the rules of a professional footballer rather than rules of society.

The thing here is that it’s not been shown that Toney was a gambling addict. It appeared that he had/has a habit and was a breach of professional conduct.

But I would have a different opinion had he accepted his responsibility, apologised and did everything he could to rectify the situation.
Obviously what Toney is wrong as well as stupid but is pretty harmless.
