Maybe the so called “end of days” scenario American Christo-fascists are always masterbating about.
I felt like we were close and I wonder if that is why this is happening
That sounds like a war crime to me.
Delivering a simple and relevant reply isn’t good enough for you?
Bibi’s government is pretty big on collective punishment.
You think we might see a third intifada? Or that this is the beginning of it?
What kind of intifada can happen when Gaza is just a crater? I worry that Bibi and his goons have been itching for an excuse to go back in and reestablish military control in Gaza.
What exactly was Hamas aim with this barbarism? What did they think will happen? Only one thing will happen. Complete removal of Hamas forever.
Most likely they are filled with people who lost someone to Israeli attacks and thereby don’t care for the larger cause. They simply want to get back at Israel/Jews and kill as many Israelis/Jews as possible before it is their time. Peace with Israel is not a possibility for them.
Their desire for vengeance will triumph safety of Palestininian community.
I think it was a rhetorical question Trion.
I’m so reluctant to say anything about it because I think it’s really difficult to say anything truly informed.
But the brutality of both Hamas and the Israeli response seems so abhorrent. Both targeting civilians, both seeking (it seems) a massive escalation of a brutal situation. I really don’t know what the resolution is now. I feel like the people of Palestine arent being given much chance to find peace even if they were inclined to and I don’t know how the Israeli people can oppose military action whilst civilians are being held hostage by Hamas.
IDK man. I really don’t. It’s easy for me to sit here in a luxurious microfleece hoodie and vanity purchase sneakers and say that resistance should be nonviolent only. I’ve never been as desperate as Palestinians in Gaza. The living conditions there are just inhumane and they have been for years. I lived in Israel when the government pulled out of Gaza. But they didn’t really leave. People who lived there couldn’t really leave. The Israeli government controls so many aspects of Gazan life.
So what’s the aim? The aim is resistance, I guess. Hunger strikes haven’t worked, petitioning the UN hasn’t worked, Roger Waters being a dickhead on Twitter hasn’t worked.
It’s been awful watch all of it unfold. I feel extremely conflicted about it on a personal level but that’s probably something I should talk to my therapist about.
The only party that has any power in this situation is the Israeli government. Instead of using that power for peace they’ve instead opted (for decades) to further starve and humiliate Palestinians—making no distinction among them.
The Palestinian people at this stage have no significant allies so the end result will be a slaughter.
For Netanyahu it’s a welcome distraction from the popular protests against his far right government. Unfortunately those same protesters don’t have a leg to stand on. You can’t be pro-democracy when you tacitly or explicitly support an open air prison next door.
Sure you can. You’re just raised from a young age to think of Palestinians as subhuman. The casual racism in Israeli society, even polite society, runs deep. It was taught to me as well growing up in the 90s when suicide bombs were still in vogue. Pithy sayings like “Palestinians hate Jewish children more than they love their own” (note the deliberate conflating of Jews and Israelis). Stuff like that. Meanwhile we’d watch movies about the 1948 war which really skipped over some of the reprehensible actions the Lehi took when the area was under British control.
The resistance.

Horrible
Beheading babies. Doesn’t bear thinking about.
Then the powers that be in Israel have created generations of Hitlers.
The parallel of what’s going on in Israel/Palestine and what happened in Europe is not lost on the international world. The Israeli government may have allot of powerful allies but public support for Israel doesn’t seem to be in a great state.
mods can you move all this Israel/Palestine stuff to its thread. thx
Yep. Good shout.
I’m on the side of innocent civilians. You have an intractable land and religious disputes and a barbaric terrorist organisation H***s (not dignifying those cunts by naming them) and all the terrorists want is to create rage between the two neighbouring communities and keep tensions high around that part of the middle east.
It’s heart breaking what happened to innocent Israelis and it’s heart breaking knowing that innocent Palestines will die while Israel try to rescue their kidnapped nationals and extract the terrorists from Gaza so they can be decommisioned.
