It is not about social distance in the stadium alone, how about the crowd getting on public transportations, lining up for food and drinks and getting into the stadium outside?
You can’t have every single one to stand 6 feet apart, or you will have them lining up for miles.

I dunno. They figured these things out in supermarkets, on public transport and in all sorts of other situations. Is it somehow beyond stadium directors to do this safely? And you just work in conjunction with the other elements too.

Basically the notion that football fans can’t be trusted is rubbish. Assigning that thought to those making the rules as opposed to yourself.

I was against it before but now I am like fuck it.
Recovery rate has increased and almost everything is open.

Well we’re just going into further restrictions and more things closing with infections right up. Not happening anytime soon.

Based on my extensive experience of going to football matches throughout my life I’d probably say that football fans can’t be trusted

Wrighty is 57 today, happy birthday Ian… Imagine him up front today… Wow!

Going back many many years, I played for a South London team, we were a very good side, won our league three times running, and we got drawn against another South London club in a local cup competition… They had this small irritating little shit up front, and he absolutely destroyed what was a very good back four, and a bloody good keeper (me!)
That was Wrighty, although we didn’t find this out until a few years later… We lost 6-1, I think he scored five of them…

It is about “necessity” or not.

Remember (all guys and gals)…
Winter is coming.
That’s when the COVID most active period.

I don’t understand?

Perhaps I could have been clearer, I was talking generally insofar as if other stuff is opening up I don’t see Football as a special case needed specific measures. Implement rules, allow the operation.

If everything is closed like it is now obviously football stadiums are too.

I know what you mean…
For myself, football/entertainment is one the least priority.

Who is going to responsible if there is another outbreak due to the football games?
FA? Government? Clubs?
No one wants to get into any lawsuit and troubles.
That’s why I don’t understand why MLS, MLB (because they are not in closed area?) are opening…
Lately, Justin Turner from Dodgers just tested positive. IF any spectator got infected, God knows if Dodgers/Rays/MLB will get sued.
The scale of large stadium is just too big to handle… also, there is no urgency to go back to watch it live since there is streaming, I think.

How the fuck have you kept that anecdote under your hat all these years?!?!?!?

I’d never shut up about having had the honour of conceding five goals to one of the greatest goalscorers our fine club has ever been home to!

What an incredible story. I only met Robert Pires and I never shut up about it, much to the forum’s boredom haha

Never crossed my mind to mention it tbh…
Think I’ve said before I have also played cricket with / against, Ian Botham, David Gower and Alec Stewart, and got very drunk with Botham and Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar at the Oval in the mid 80’s.

Just goes to show that being half decent at sports gets you meeting some good people…

Another couple of post and you would disclose you used to sell crack to Maradona.

What else are you hiding?

Haha I read the first part and was getting ready to say how if it was you you’d be unbearable given that you mention the fact you met Pires and had a photo with him allll the time. But then I read the second part.

So yeah, guess this proves your point

In fairness I didn’t meet him, or even talk to him, all I recall was this little fella playing up front, fast as fuck, and him putting the ball in the net every fucking time… As I say, never knew it was him until about two or three years later when he started playing for Palace…

I knew someone would, thats why I thought I’d cover my own back and lessen the impact by getting in there first
