Henrikh Mkhitaryan

I knew it but had to throw some shade to Michu.

I also recall a young Eden Hazard saying Gervinho was the best player he’d played with (or some shit like that).

Doing my boy Gerbeanio dirty after all these years. Put some respect on his alien ass head

What that sentence really means is “Gervinho was the best player I played with at Lille”, which doesn’t sound nearly as impressive lol

My guy, Gervinho missed an open goal. He was not good. I still don’t really know why we signed him. I at least think I understand what Mkhitaryan brings to the table.

Didn’t say he was.

“His problem is that he has visited a military occupied portion of Azerbaijan which in doing so without permission from Azerbijani government.

“This entails consequences including blacklisted by the government. But he will be able to have security and safety guarantees.

“My message to Mkhitaryan would be: you’re a footballer, you want to play football? Go to Baku you are safe there, if you want to play the issue then that’s a different story."

What a fucking disgrace UEFA are for allowing a final of this magnitude to be held in a country where not all athletes will be accepted; this statement is a blatant passive aggressive threat. It basically reads “as long as you shut your mouth and don’t do anything stupid, you’ll get out alive Henrik.”

UEFA are genuinely a bunch of nauseating clowns.

Craaaazy. As much as I would love to say “Mkhi out, advantage Arsenal” I can’t. It’s a final. Any resource will be useful.

Anyone know what this part means?

Playing devil’s advocate here.
What is wrong with that statement?

If you look at Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict, it isn’t exactly black & white as to who is wrong & who is right.

If they banned players from playing, I would have been peeved but considering he is allowed to play and advised to stick to football & not advance any political agenda on the field, I see no issue with that.

Very few countries in this world are in peaceful terms with their neighbours. We can’t just remove them from consideration of hosting events.

What’s wrong is that the final is being held here.

Why not? Might encourage them to stop being dicks.

The problem with the statement is that it’s totally at their discretion as to what constitutes him furthering a political agenda. Let’s say he wore a t-shirt with the word Armenia on it, will they arrest him for it? They’ve invited the event into their country and they should take everything that goes with that, no questions asked. It’s UEFAs job to punish him if he oversteps the mark.

It breaches the freedom of speech. Which shouldn’t be the case in a normal functioning society. Even for a footballer.

We are speculating here. Perhaps they will or perhaps they won’t.

But why do we even need to go there. If Mkhitaryan behaves professionally, everything will be fine.

You have to police freedom of speech in some regards. Nazi Salutes, Anti Semitism are all frowned upon & are a punishable offense.
If you are entering a country and you are pre-informed to not do certain things, you are to blame yourself if you did exactly that & got punished for it

That’s the problem. While that’s an unknown I don’t see how the club can bring him. He could act perfectly and they could still take a dislike to something he does and cause trouble for him. Maybe that’s true of another player wore an Armenia t-shirt too but I somehow doubt it.

While there is no assurance, we have just had a World cup organized in Russia with heavy racism & homophobia; and everything went well.
So I would like to take confidence from that in thinking, everyone would mind their own business if no one triggered anyone.

Other than the fact they’re threatening him to keep his mouth closed or get arrested?

Even the Nazi’s were better to their sporting adverseries.

Shit.

What a farce.

All things considered, it’s not a catastrophic blow to our chances but that is not the point. Imagine if Mkhitaryan had been our key player, or a player with much greater standing in the world game. Imagine if Pogba or Hazard were in the same situation? The outcry would be massive and I feel for Mkhitaryan here. Being deprived of a European final.

Bastards UEFA should never have allowed Baku to host the final. Fucking cunts.

My sympathy is tempered slightly because I have no idea what exactly Mkhi has done to anger the Azerbaijani government. The accusations seem very vague.
