Not really tbh was just a spur of the moment thing.

I never thought or even wanted them until that moment. :joy: After watching them all week thought they looked decent :joy:

Wasn’t her @Phoebica haha

Gutted how popular resistance bands have become.

I felt so niche before any of this when James Grage was pretty much the only man pioneering this as a viable resistance training regimen for mass building. Now there are amazing tips all over YouTube and their popularity has skyrocketed.

Absolutely love Power Band training and all the endless possibilities that they provide. Started in January and I don’t think I’ll ever stop using them.

I dunno have you seen Robert forstemann!

Which Love Island person was it then?

Molly from this year

Oh the one who is with Calum… convenient… My point still stands, you probably still fancy her.

If you want to build a good strong physique with some really good quality muscle you need to use weights. Resistance bands will keep you ticking over lockdown but unless you’re on drugs or you’re a genetic freak you’re not going to get big doing chest presses with a band or squatting with resistance bands.

I follow all of them including the guys aswell haha. Not denying she’s good looking tho :joy: but that wasn’t why thought they would complement my exercise bike well :sunglasses:

Feel free to share any pictures/videos of the guys working out… for inspiration, obviously.

Resistance bands are shit. Better off doing 500 pressups/pullups lol

They’re literally only good if you use them alongside weighted workouts. I can do chest press and flys with dumbbell, and then wrap some resistance bands around and do some kind of banded press for an extra squeeze sometimes.

They have their place that’s for sure but definitely not even close to progressive overload in the gym.

Why is the stimulus different? I know beginners see progress in pretty much any training including bodyweight but surely you can load up the exact same amount of resistance and create enough tension for eccentric overload? Happy to hear otherwise of course it’s a daily wonder of mine.

How does the body know the difference between the force of a band and a metal bar though? I’ve heard people say they’re shit but rarely does anyone explain why

What kind of physique are you trying to achieve? If you want to build mass I’m not sure how you’re going to do that using a resistance band with about 10-15kg of resistance.

Squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press, bent over rows.

Fundamental exercises that you cannot effectively replicate with bands (except maybe shoulder press)

All you’re doing with resistance bands is a bunch of accessory work with decent resistance but there’s no way you can effectively build mass without incorporating important compound movements. They’re fundamental for building a foundation of strength.

You really got break down the muscle to build that up stronger and stronger. Resistance bands are great for accessory work and helping you work on the mind-muscle connection and building up better contractions on your muscles. But don’t use it as a replacement for weights - rather a supplement.

Ahh are you talking about those small resistance bands for injury recovery etc? That’s not what I’m referring to at all.

I’m talking about those power style bands you can get out of Decathlon and Undersun Fitness with resistance ranging anywhere up to 70+ kg per band.

All five of those exercises I’ve managed to incorporate with resistance bands and I’ve been just as sore as I was in the gym (only stayed consistent two months but hey that’s why I train at home). I’m a 70kg beginner so it’s obviously a different ball game at this stage but the principles and compound movements you’re talking about I’ve still been able to follow.

Is it really a question of load or is it a question of being able to replicate the same tension on the muscles? Resistance wise the sky’s the limit as you can easily stack bands together. The challenge has been doing these exercises properly with bands as well isolation workouts.

This theory is what convinced me in the first place and well yeah, incorporating these with bodyweight, some free weights, pull up bar has led to some gains for me.

Great post by the way.

That’s just weird :joy:

Not entirely serious either  doesn’t everyone want to be revolutionary?!
ngl there was something in me that was hoping to put a video out there a year down the line to showcase a unique journey but that weird dream is out the window now.

Training with these at home has been all kinds of weird but for a good while it was the only way ANY training was ever going to happen. They’re as flexible as it gets

Seems like a ball ache when you could just go to a gym with ready made equipment. Machines, barbells, dumbbells and everything all in one environment which allows you to effectively target muscles.

I’m not convinced you’re capable of building strong legs with resistance bands. That’s what leg pressing, squatting are for as well as a multitude of other leg exercises.

Seems like a new fad for people who don’t want to make time for the gym and want quick results from the comfort of their home (not aimed at you).
