Gabriel Jesus (9)

Key too getting the best out of Jesus means changing the dynamic in midfield. Cant be carrying lumbering Xhaka types around.
Going too have to be more proactive on the ball and furthet up the field pressing. Need another baller in midfield brought in.
He isnt your prototype striker leading the line.

Only question on that is, people were talking about him being 1 of two strikers we buy. So will he be the undisputed #1? I’d assume he’d only come here under assurances he is tbh and I don’t blame him.

That means we’ll be signing a cheaper backup and using Balogunner as the third option. I’m happy enough to gamble on him, he’s certainly showing in the last week that he is capable of better than his previous numbers.

Just hope he doesn’t drive that price up too much, 30m would’ve been a great deal…now 50m are the reports.

Yeah he could def. be. Arteta knows him well etc, there is some potential positives regarding his all around play that I mentioned somewhere else, I just didn’t get the whole ā€œneed a better scoring CFā€ as the pushing point and then… this guy, who had 3 goals this season before Watford, who scores like Laca but for a better team.

This is what makes me laugh but I’ve given up because Gabby J made me look like a cunt after posting those stats.

Think he reads OA and took offence.

In fairness, his 3 goals were against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. At least we’d have one player who shows up in the big games.

Because Jesus has a totally different profile to Lacazette. He’s agile, better dribbler, better movement, better in most ways than Lacazette is so even if we sign another striker who only scores 15 goals a season we’ve got one with a much different profile.

Jesus also has versatility than Lacazette doesn’t have and won’t be blowing after one half of football.

You make peoples criticism of Lacazette seem so one dimensional but it’s way more than that. It isn’t just that he doesn’t score it’s that he’s pretty crap at most other things. He’s slow, he has a terrible engine, his movement in the box is static and he simply doesn’t have the same quality of positioning you want in a striker

And most people championing Jesus don’t want him to be our first choice striker but rathe one of two striker signings.

I think this is the main question for me. I’m more than happy for us to sign Jesus at a decent price but I think we need to assume he’s coming as the main man.

I don’t think we keep qualifying it saying he’s going to be 1 of 2, he may well be but the other will be the backup.

Yeah, I think he has the POTENTIAL to be the first choice striker, but in worst case he’s still a great option for all three positions up front and brings something we absolutely don’t have in the squad atm. Also good age and good resale value. A no brainer.

Jesus shits all over Lacazette in all areas and I’ve praised Lacazette more than most on here.

That’s not something to be proud about

Timo Werner shits all over Lacazette in some areas. You want him?

Pretty much just raw pace and movement lol

Werner is a very limited footballer.

German Theo Walcott

Decent comp they’re soul brothers in terms of being offside but Theo could at least be trusted a bit more in front of goal

I genuinely can’t believe that poaching is his biggest down fall in the EPL. Before Chelsea signed him he was one of the most clinical goal scorers in Europe. I still think he has that eye for goal just needs to move away from Chelsea - what you said earlier about Lukaku might also be true for Werner. Doesn’t seem a great place to be for filling your boots these days.

Though at the same time some of Werner’s misses are calamitous

He really went from Popeye post spinach to Popeye pre-spinach

He’ll probably go back to scoring bags of goals when he signs for Dortmund in a year or two

Harsh on theo.

Very harsh actually.

Nah Theo was the poster boy for brain dead speed and movement

Yeah because he suits the league more and he’ll get so many chances.

He’s always been capable of a horror miss even for German NT. Had a couple of really good seasons at Leipzig simply because of how many chances they created.

Knew 50m was a waste when they did it, just glad it’s proved even worse than I could’ve imagined

He had one move running in behind the CB coming in from the RW. He perfected that and fuck all else.
