Gabriel Jesus (9)

That’d be an excellent deal. Can’t help but think it’ll be something like 30m rising to 35m

Barca?
Or are we saying they won’t be able to afford him either?

PSG if Mbappe leaves? Not sure who they’d replace him with

Sterling and Jesus would be great though, bring in a couple of central midfielders and we’re about there

I’m not a massive fan of Jesus but Sterling is top quality.
But those two and a decent CM would be a great window.

I hear Sterling talk. Sign me the fuck up.

There is a YouTube video for just the Arsenal bit actually.
The City bit(was it Sam Lee?) isn’t there though.

For what is worth, I think Sterling runs his contract down instead.

City aren’t as stupid as us, I doubt they’ll let that happen

Tbf, if Sterling doesn’t agree to a move, they can’t do much.

He’s seen what Arteta does to attackers I guess :bergkamp2:

what I wonder here is, you are all complaining about how bad Laca is, how he actually always was bad, how his 13 goals a season or w/e every year was sooo bad for a £45m striker and how this false 9 thing is nonsense and what we really need is just a better central striker with better output…

then when we’re linked to this guy who is even more of a false 9 and who has an equal or worse goal scoring record over the years for a much, much better side, maybe even the highest scoring side in the world, you are all over it like flies on shit.

How does this work?

I mean if this guy hadn’t just scored 4 against relegation side Watford he’d have a worse goal scoring record than Laca this season with the same amount of assists.

I mean I see pros and cons with both players, but just wondering here.

Jesus is better than Laca at pretty much everything. Quicker, more technical, able to run in behind, better football brain, better dribbler, passer. He has better movement, link up play (like actually progressing play instead of shoving his bum into opposition players pelvic regions before falling over), is far better at initiating the press and can play with his weaker foot.

You’d probably give Laca the edge in strength, but that’s negated by the fact that Laca’ strength allows him to get in-between ball and player, but often ends up with him on the deck whereas Jesus can actually battle.

Now, you are right with the lack of goals from Jesus until recently. Is it a purple patch? Possibly, but some may argue he’s scoring goals as a result of regular starts.

I think Jesus is a perfect fit for us.

That’s a damning stat, that, lol.

I don’t think he’d be that good here

Are you seriously comparing Lacazette to Jesus lol

Lionel Messi has scored less league goals than Khazri, Gameiro and Hwang this season.

An argument without context doesn’t work. Jesus is far better than Laca.

There’s a number of reasons that Jesus is a good option for us.

  1. Far more Athletic than Lacazette, he’s an excellent athlete.
  2. His all round game is superior and fits well with what we want from a #9
  3. Versatile and can play in a number of positions
  4. Arguably still has upside as a player with regard to goal scoring
  5. Good age profile for the squad
  6. Can act as a viable bridge option and buy us time to find a true successor to Auba if it turns out he can’t become our true #1 option
  7. Unlikely needs any time to acclimatise to the PL
  8. He sniffs out chances with his excellent movement and at the very least will be predatory in the box instead of so deep compared to Lacazette, essentially he will have more chances to score
  9. The fee won’t be out of this world compared to Isak and Nunez for example.

Lastly I’m intrigued to see what Jesus is capable of when given a full season where he is the undisputed #1 main striker in a team. Back in 2019/2020 he scored 14 league goals from 21 starts which is actually very good, if he started say 35 league games could he have scored 20 league goals? There’s a decent chance he could have so like I said his ceiling is still up in the air and there is at least a chance he can make the next step as a striker with a coach who sees him as his main guy. You could say he’s still yet to reach his peak.

I mean, I think he’d be a decent buy for the price but I wouldn’t say I’m all over him haha.

for one though, he could be had for £20m cheaper than lacazette.

£50m for him still makes me :face_vomiting:
