thought he retired years ago tbh
He’ll get paid off to leave but he won’t get his full wages.
His plan was to see out his deal before retiring. One of the worst ends to a career I’ve seen. Dude got his dream move and turn into an absolute waste of space.
I struggle to think of a biggest flop in my life. One of the biggest moves ever and Madrid got absolutely nothing from this move. It wasn’t just his availability, even when he was available he offered nothing of note.
He’ll get everything he’s due one way or another. Will work out with tax not to be paid or something but if it took staying to get it that’s what he’d do.

They are saving money though. The bonus for Hazard is that he gets a a good chunk of the money without having to actually work for it.
He can steal another living elsewhere for another year or two or just hang the boots now. I think it’s going to be the latter.
Worse than our Ozil and Aubameyang new contracts that. Ended up costing them something stupid like 150m after they won the CL and now released on a free a year early.
Koscielny and our other cb’s constantly backing off gave this guy a career.
No, he was a great player, one of the best of his generation. However, as admitted by his teammates, one of the worst trainers around.
Natural talent isn’t enough though, especially in football today, and especially when you’re entering your thirties.
What a disaster that move turned out to be. The money it must have cost Madrid
Who the fuck is going to sign this waster knowing he’s lazy cunt that has zero interest in actual playing, whoever does deserves what’s coming with him.
Spurs or Chavski please
He will absolutely have offers, it’s beyond sporting reasons. Why do you think the Saudi’s are paying what they’re paying for Ronaldo and now Benzema and Messi are next??
It’s all about the optics and hype, and of course sportswashing.
Gotta be one of the worst sports contracts I’ve ever seen. It’s up there with Albert Belle, Bobby Bonilla and Vin Baker.
Probably decided to retire after he was linked with Spurs
I’m here for all of this. His time in Madrid made him one of the all time greatest frauds.
damn…he just doesn’t love the game that way. fair enough, Eden
Doesn’t even want to go to Saudi for a year to earn some extra retirement money
FRAUD!!!
I knew this guy would flop in Spain and holy shit did he flop.
He’s totally not a fraud. I think by the time he got to Spain he was just physically done and I don’t think he ever really cared that much about football or at least wasn’t really keen to put in the grunt-work which you kinda need once you go past your physcial prime or to prolong it.
I think it was John Obi Mikel who basically said Hazard barely even trained, put in minimum effort at training only when he had to and they just accpeted it because he would be so good once he got on the pitch.
He could easily bank another mountain of cash if he really wanted to but he’s already wealthy beyond most people’s wildest dreams and still a young man in real world terms, no harm in just dipping now and doing whatever the fuck he wants for the next 50 years.
I’m only half kidding. I had a long standing blindspot when it came to him. I thought he was overrated in terms of what he did in the PL relative to his talent and was part of a Chelsea team that downed tools.
I remember reading a similar article to the anecdote you cited, maybe it was The Athletic, where it was very clear he didn’t love training or even gave as shit but that he liked playing football and was just so good at it that it didn’t matter. It’s obviously not his fault he got injured so much although it’s easy to wonder if the injuries were connected to his somewhat lax attitude towards training.
Considering how he coasted on his natural talent and ability he could have been even better if he had the killer mindset extending beyond match day, he was ridiculously good.
One of the greatest forwards to grace the PL regardless which speaks to his ability, he was great to watch even though he played for Chelsea
