I’m trying to remember when I last celebrated the news of a signing as if we’d just scored the winning goal in a cup final, against Spurs, after being 2-0 with 10 minutes to go.
Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp definitely, maybe Sanchez, Auba, Ozil, Jesus and Declan Rice to a certain extent.
I will explode with joy and dance around the room if we get Eze, his name will be on the next kit I buy. Goykeres will probably provoke the largest sigh of relief I’ve had in years. Both will be the missing pieces we’ve needed for the last 3 seasons and with Zubi conducting from the base of midfield, I genuinely think we will have the players who can cut through defences like a knife through butter, just like our best teams under Graham and Wenger did.
So far, Berta has amazed us with the way he worked on multiple deals when buying players, at a good prices. Now, I am hoping he’ll show us his powers of persuading buying clubs to pay us well for the players that we are looking to sell.
£15m Nelson
£10m Lokonga
£15m Vieira
£15m Zinchenko
£25m Trossard
£80m Total value
In theory the above are worth more than Eze, but given we’d also be benefitting by not having to pay the full release clause upfront, and with buying and selling fudging FFP, I wouldn’t mind a straight swap.
And before anyone says anything, yes I know this is an FM-style fantasy-land rather than a realistic transfer strategy
