Yes please!! Would much rather Eze over Rodrygo

A forward line with Eze and Gyokeres, or ā€œGyokereze,ā€ as they’ll be known.

Maybe using this to put pressure on the Rodrygo camp

I really like Eze. I’ve suggested him as a possible signing before and still think he would be an excellent addition and fit for the team. I would still want another wide forward this summer in addition to Eze though.

If we did sign him, I think the club would have some explaining to do, as this feels as though we could have done a deal for him in January

Ā£68m for Eze is a premium fee

Just me that doesn’t feel this player?

Plenty of hype don’t know why.

Get a bit of Zaha ā€˜big fish in small pond’.

I had a look and two seasons most/nearly all of his goals came at the end of the season.

Whenever I watch him on the pitch I like what I see. Maybe I’m not watching enoung, but still…

I’d be pleased with him.

When they were together at Palace I don’t think there was ever much between him and Olise btw, and Olise is doing brilliant at Bayern…

Fair reservations but I definitely think he’s good enough to play at a higher level than he’s at right now.

I don’t feel that he’s a transformative signing of the kind we might want in the forward line but someone is surely going to take the chance on him towards the top of the table and I think we could do worse.

Good that the club isn’t putting all their eggs in one basket with Rodrygo, like they did last summer with Nico.
Rodrygo might have the higher ceiling but for me Eze is currently the better player.
Let the other dude make up his mind on if he’s actually going or maybe make up some more excuses why he’s been playing like shit.

This is one way to put me in the rodrygo camp I guess :eyes:

Nah

Rodrygo was taking a break due to ā€œmental and physicalā€ exhaustion in the run-in for Madrid.
Meanwhile, Eze led his midtable club to an FA Cup win against Man City.

He’s a good player but yeah I’ve said similar, he’s relatively unproven and he doesn’t solve the two key remaining positions that we have to recruit for.

Inconsistency issues are there he was very poor for the 1st half of last season but finished strongly, having to play at the requisite level with far higher stakes on a weekly basis is not a given with him.

Could potentially be quite a frustrating player if he does make the step up, all to say there is tangible bust factor.

Just because someone is good doesn’t necessarily mean they’re good for us especially when they’re not even a LW or CF to start with.

I’m glad we have alternatives to Rodrygo but I can’t see us signing both. If we get Eze I’m intrigued by the tactical plan because he’s definitely not a speedy touchline hugging LW like Martinelli. Maybe he can do a job there similar to what Bernardo has often done for City at RW, a guy who isn’t a threat to run behind but who can be an outlet because the ball always sticks to him. But I think you get the best out of him in the half space so it seems like we’d need to play the LB wide more often, which I’m not opposed to doing. You can see a lot of versatility and position switching with him, Rice, and MLS/Calafiori but also some potential for all three to want to play in the same spaces.

Yeah, however, the current LB’s we have aren’t that type of player

They’re not traditional LBs but I think they can play on the outside much more comfortably than the guys we’ve relied on prior to this past year at LB like Zinny, Kiwior, Tomiyasu, and Timber.
