Douglas Luiz

They must be all hammered from the top 4 party.

Gallagher and McKennie for Luiz and 10m. Madness.

If he could field a keeper, nine cross country runners and a striker he would.

All his best stuff is off the ball, he can run, press and win possession but passing he’s mediocre, technically mediocre and he doesn’t dictate, totally needs someone to shoulder that burden.

I also question his reading of the game because he’s a yellow card magnet, a lot of dumb yellows that he collects like old school PokĆ©mon cards.

Presently at the top level he’ll be found wanting IMO

Gallagher is no better than Longstaff.

Wouldn’t see anyone lining up to slap 40m on Seany boy with 1 year left on his deal.

Can’t say I disagree. In modern football I just don’t take much issue with those traits

Not something I hate. Much like Xhaka and Busquets he picks up a yellow but rarely gets sent off.

Found out by who? The quality of centre-mids has dropped considerably

There we go, truth is out now. Yikes.

That tweet doesn’t appear to be linked to any actual news story and a google search for the quote returns no hits other than the tweet. Maybe he said it on a podcast or something.

I do think Luiz might make sense for us this summer given that Guimaraes and Neves both seem likely to be too expensive.

To be honest I didn’t double check the source initially.
I did find this just now which aligns with it though.

It’s not exactly word for word.
Likely that it got referenced by TuttoJuve and then aggregated and translated here back to English, which led to the wording changing.

It’s the first admission from someone that’s considered reliable for Villa about the situation with PSR and the urgency to sell someone before July.

It also mentions Ramsey and Duran as others who could go. I honestly wouldn’t mind us taking Duran on cut price deal.
Ornstein mentioned him yesterday as well as a name that Chelsea are still interested in(they wanted to get him in January).

Hopefully we don’t sign him.

You don’t want him, don’t want Bruno, who’s your preferred midfielder? Onana?

Why not? Out of the options linked hes one of the best.

I think people know I like him and was keen for us to sign him a while back.
I think we’re past that. I feel like he’s not the right fit.

If we sign him obviously I’ll back him and the club but if he’s brought in to be a starter, I think we can do better.
If he’s brought in to improve our depth, I think he’s too good for that.

Luiz is a very good footballer. If we are going to sell Partey, he’s an able replacement. Like Guinness, he’d be a smart signing from the league.

*Guimares ffs!

Can we? I can’t really think of someone off the top of my head.

You don’t rate Bruno which is fine. I don’t think Zubimendi wants to leave Spain and he is obviously untested in England. You like FdJ more than I do but that move seems absolutely unrealistic. Onana appears to be more of a straight six but who really knows since he’s been playing for a coach who feeds his players lead paint chips in order for them to play the kind of football he wants. So who else is available in midfield that you’d prefer? Gallagher? I don’t think he’s better than Luiz. He’s a runner and a scrapper but that’s about it.

The rumour today was that Villa want Ā£50m for Luiz. There is no way he is worth that sort of money. We need a top quality midfielder this summer. I like the player, but don’t consider him to be a ā€˜starter’.

I mean Ā£50 million is pretty much a standard fee in the PL now isn’t it?

He’s worth nearly double that mate. Only way teams are getting him on the cheap is because Villa are desperate to make a sale.

So he’s worth nearly 100mil? About as much as we paid for Declan Rice?
