Coming to terms with mental health issues

I’m sorry to hear about the extent of your struggles Jade  as mentioned by others, the support here can be a good resource and I hope you are doing okay!

Your point about people suffering silently resonates with me, as I believe many people are dealing with their own problems but are able to hide it, to try and “get on” with their day. Check-ins massively help, like you say.

With the weather warming up, doing long walks has given me a mental boost in the past so will be doing more of those now, hopefully it can help you feel better too.

Sending love xx

Man, my anxiety and stress levels right now are making my job a really hard to place to work in, literally having panic attacks every night before work. I work with people, which is one thing I struggle to do anyway and my work is ridiculously understaffed and I’m worrying about managerial shit which I shouldn’t be worrying about at all.

Do you like tea? When I’d have panic attacks the night before court I’d make some mint tea before bed. Even the ritual of making the tea would help me focus on other things.

Hope you get well soon, mate.

An atypical anxiolytic, something like buspirone, may help.

Other than that, have you tried over-the-counter stuff? Something with valerian extract in it, perhaps? Kalms isn’t bad, I’ve heard (although it can take a week to kick in). Rescue Remedy may also work.

Can’t really recommend any drugs but stuff like Ashwaganda Root can really help enhance your mood and mellow you out, CBD oil is also really good if you can get it from one of the reputable places like Provacan or Elixinol. A couple of drops and you will notice the effects almost immediately.

Had to call in sick today, no job is worth losing sleep and stressing so much you’re having panic attacks on the night. Not a decision I’ve taken lightly as I hate phoning in the sick as it is

Yeah your health is more important. Have you spoken to a doctor about the panic attacks?

Nope but guess who’s been called into work because of shortages although I’d already called in sick? This twat

That’s pretty fucked up that they’re hauling you in despite you telling them you’re unwell.

Sorry to hear you’re having a shit time of it lately mate.

You still working at a restaurant? That business is tough right now it’s hard to find ppl to work, and everyone wants to be back dining out so I know the customers aren’t always the most patient. Btw if u do see a doctor and they prescribe you meds I’d do a lot of research before deciding to get on any type of medication, some ppl aren’t all that excited about having their brain chemistry altered. Do u live in an area where medical Marijuana is legal? I saw someone mention CBD oil but for anxiety I’ve known ppl that have been helped a lot by THC as well.

I’m convinced I have anxiety and the older I get the more anxious and socially awkward I’ve become. I’ve always been suspicious of pharmaceuticals so I avoid taking any meds if I can help it. Cannabis helps calm my nerves but that’s an infrequent indulgence. Plus it’s illegal in most of the US.

OA inside job time. We’ll save all our mental health by retiring to a life of luxury and wealth.

Let’s be clear, the motley crew on OA is more of an Ocean’s Elevens style group.
