Big weng once mistook where Potter managed and it’s been a thing ever since.

You weren’t around for those dark months

They played well at times last night and should have scored when it was 1-1 which would have made a different game, Leno did well for Fulham.
Sometimes the luck just isnt on your side and with suspensions and injuries Potter is struggling.
A club run correctly would stick with him, see whats going on and stand with the manager during the tough months, however this is Chelsea.

No that’s football at a top club. That’s what you signed up for and commands your salary.
There’s always mitigating circumstances in football.
Every manager in the game who has ever lost his job can point to a injury or bad call or deflection etc.
The pressure is massive at Chelsea because they are serial trophy winners.
So far he’s been backed but he can’t get away with these results.

We backed Arteta

Who’s “we”? A lot of Arsenal fans bitched their way from the start of Arteta’s tenure to us hitting the top of the league this season :joy:

The board

EDIT
I never wanted him sacked either
Had to believe in the process

We backed Wenger for a decade after he was done too.

Thats the boards prerogative

Id prefer them to back the managers they hire then to swap them out every season because things are a bit tough

Did you think that with Bruce Rioch

The way I remember it seeming at the time was a straight choice between Rioch or Wrighty. 14 year old me loved the decision the board took

Tbh on the whole i think it was. Twitter and forums always have a worse sentiment because post match annoyances get blown up and repeated.

Never met many in person that were fully Arteta out, sure some had concerns, as we probably all did with falling out of Europe.

Also obviously much easier to be patient when you don’t actually need to give a shit about the results lol. Is starting to look like he’s not a big club manager though, another moyes type.

To manage a big club you need some personality, a bit of charisma or drive. Arteta and Potter are of similar philosophies but the former comes in straight away and says my way or gtfo of my club. Potter needs to do the same and needs the boards backing to do so otherwise it’s curtains for him.

Fact is the players clearly couldn’t give a shit about Potter so the writings already on the wall, the same way it was for Moyes at Utd. I like Potter and think he could really do a good job if players and fans invested in him but Chelsea is literally the last place to do this. Toxic club and Potter should have known better.
