Context is they’re doing worse than the previous manager with a manager who was being touted for a big club.

Nah, that’s not the context at all, that’s just a random selected element of the situation that you decided to pick out and use.

Context includes loads of things with the really obvious one being squad quality.

Wasn’t this the same old Chelsea before Arbramovich?

Tuchel doesn’t win 2 games out of 10 with this squad. He gains more points.

To be fair before Abramovich turned up they were better than this :joy:

Imagine being so obsessed with Potter’s hipster bullshit you can’t even enjoy Chelsea collapsing like the sick and tired dogs they are.

Imagine thinking that’s how things work. Even so, it’s not really a mutually exclusive situation. What on earth makes you think that the Chav situation isn’t enjoyable?

Had any other manager come to Chelsea and had the same record he would be getting mauled btw.
Nobody would give a shit about context, I don’t get why Potter gets a pass here.

I’m a fan of his and appreciate the work he’s done at Brighton but he’s on borrowed time if things don’t change soon.

I’m a random dude on an internet forum, I can make assessments however I want lol Just because it’s a “results business” and “noone cares about context”, doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to look at the Chelsea squad and say that I think it’s shit and Potter might do better with a better squad.

You’re basically saying “why doesn’t everyone react the same way sensationalist media boneheads react”

Not even really a big Potter fan, just think this Chelsea squad sucks but that seems to be real trigger point for a few people on here none of whom can be bothered to put forward any evidence to the contrary.

I’m no expert to say definitively that Potter sucks or not.

What I can say with certainty is this Chelsea team is full of overpaid young duds like Pulisic, Mount, Cucurella and overpaid, over the hill, washed up geriatrics like Auba, Azpi and Koulibaly.

That shouldn’t be a controversial statement.

Potter choose the wrong spot. I think he has the ability to turn things around but warning signs with this squad and transfer policy were there under Tuchel.

Will he get enough time under terrible Todd? Not sure

The same things were said in a sense when we went from Emery to Arteta, Emery got 70 points in 18/19 and made a European Final and Arteta has 1 win in 10 etc in 20/21.

Tuchel was sacked more harshly than Emery and I think is superior to him and I’m not saying Potter will certainly turn it around like Arteta has done.

All in all though it would be better to judge Potter after he has an off season and another campaign, but tbh given the results and it being Chelsea I don’t think he’ll get the time and backing that Arteta did.

Anyways fuck Chelsea, I love being 19 points and a game in hand over these putrid cunts.

Arteta came in and won us an Fa Cup against some of the toughest opposition we’ve had in that old comp.

People simply ignore it because it was convenient towards their point of view. Not so much anymore.

He did also start the 20/21 season with 14 points from 14 games though and was afforded patience from the Arsenal hierarchy that Potter is unlikely to get.

You talk about patience yet you were willing to bite a hand off for fourth a few months back. This is exactly what Stroller mentioned a few posts up. People are willing to have belief in Potter, yet that same kindness wasn’t shown to Mikel from our own fans.

It’s simply bizarre.

It’s only bizarre if the people you’re referring to are the exact same people in both situations. Such a common fallacy that falls flat unless you can directlt specify the individuals.

The situations are different anyway, so people don’t have to have the same view on both to maintain their “integrity”.

People on here have had this inane fascination with Potter ever since he pulled himself out of the Swiss league.

He’s an average manager that lacks vision and charisma yet excels in meaningless metrics.

Potter never managed in Switzerland lol

I’m not sure if it’ll work out for Potter or not at Chelsea if they show patience, I don’t think we’ll ever get to see though as Chelsea simply don’t show patience.

Either way I’m not fussed, as long as they continue to struggle.
