Cesc Fabregas

He’s definitely not an Arsenal legend. But he was a world class player.

Why because he won things for them and he didn’t here? I mean for them he’s an Overmars type, came and won things but left after a few years

For us he gave us many more world class seasons. So he did more for us, it’s just we didn’t win anything. Some players are legends without trophies. See Shearer at Newcastle. If we hadn’t had so much success from 89-04 he would of been seen as a Legend. I personally consider him a legend, not his fault we didn’t invest enough to win things with him

I’d certainly rate him over Overmars, Anelka and Petit in terms of what he brought to the club.

What constructs a Legend? Duration? He has been here for as long as other Legends. Trophies? We can all agree Wenger/Arsenal didn’t succeed in building a proper team. That is not on the individual. Only because how he left he is not a Arsenal legend?

Listen, if he stayed here for a longer period I would get it. But fact is, when it got tough for him to win stuff here, and that’s from Cesc’s mouth himself, he chose to leave us. In fact, as he said, he chose to force a move in ways he wasn’t proud of.

HE stayed for the same amount of time as Thierry Henry and longer than Pires.

He also threw Pizza at Alex Furguson, which seals the deal for me.

Cesc was an overrated prick while he was with us. He’s no longer with us, the c’nt.

Let’s move on

Loyalty is a two-way street.

What does this mean?

You can’t expect someone to remain loyal if the other party is bullshitting around.

Dave that’s an outright lie c’mon lol

Course he was. Some Gooners were acting like he was the f’ckin second coming and after one game against Juventus had us believing we’d upgraded on Vieira :joy:

When you had Rooney and Ronaldo kicking arse with Man United, it was quite a bitter pill to swallow when we were “in transition” and “building for the future” for 5 odd years with Cesc. The 2 aforementioned players stepped up. Fabregas didn’t.

How did Arsenal bullshit Fabregas?

You’re overrated, Dave

You ain’t even tried me

It was 8 years of consistent performances my guy. Remember, he was a central midfielder not a forward. He can never have the same game winning output as Ronaldo or Rooney so that’s an unfair comparison straight away.

But taking your comparison, United had Rooney AND Ronaldo. If only he had a Rooney or Ronaldo to support him, things might have been different. Our squad always lacked a player or two but he was always a reliable 7+/10 performer. Gave us some superb performances and moments in his career against Spurs (“dynamite” goal at WHL, goal from kick off), game winning assist for Adebayor in our last league victory at OT, Milan goal, Bernabaeu performance, too many to recall tbh.

We took for granted our dominance against plenty of CL teams when he was here - we can only dream of that level of performance now.

His reputation has been tarnished by the way he left but it’s a hugely disrespectful and disingenuous to call him an overrated prick. He was our only world class player for a stretch of 5 years or more.

I don’t think just playing well for a club makes you a club legend. He bolted the first real chance he had to move to a bigger club without really accomplishing much of note at Arsenal.

The argument that he wasn’t surrounded by a good enough team is fair but I just can’t buy that just because he stayed at Arsenal for 8 years makes him a legend.

He didn’t even give us what should have been his prime years because he left in such a cunt way.

I believe we did get his prime years

He pretty much did give us his prime years. His hamstrings were gone somewhat within a few seasons of leaving.

You can say he didn’t achieve anything with us, that isn’t true. We didn’t win anything but he achieved season after season of elite performances.

As for loyalty, Vieira was crying for a move when we were winning things. How would Vieira have behaved if we weren’t winning anything for so many seasons? Henry moved to Barce too. Overmars and Petit did too.

We did in hindsight but I’m almost certain none of us believed he wouldn’t improve.
