All true, and almost added caveats about length of time at Bayern, Chelsea and PSG. Even with that said, I still think it’s a bit underwhelming and should be noted in a GOAT conversation, where the bar is naturally incredibly high.
But even with caveats in mind, his domestic record doesn’t lead me to being confident that he match Pep’s 6 in 7.
Baseless speculation, but I think he likely gets 4 in 7, with us picking up one title and Liverpool getting an extra one.
Definitely don’t think he’s got the domestic mettle that Pep has.
I just always feel the need to defend his domestic record because I think he was unfairly dismissed at a few clubs and it makes his record look less favourable.
Hearing that feels like a breeze of fresh air in very hot, damp day.
I mean… I appeciate all kinds of football (I prefer direct, counter attacking football, but I love tiki taka too when it’s played in a effective way that creates a ton of chances), but the mindset of many modern football fans, pundits, jurnous, cunts etc, even some managers sadly… and them thinking that everyone HAS to play out from the back, that the GK has to have a certain number of touches, how you have to have a certain fucking number of passes in your backline before you cross the halfway line lol…
Looking at every other way of playing as “dinosaur football”, “allardyce ball”, parking the bus etc
In short, how there’s only one right way of playing the game…
Is a cancer to the game.
I mean, there’s good football and bad football. What style you use is just… STYLE.
I think he’s been put in an uncomfortable position at Real Madrid where they’ve signed a mega star who’s best position is where last seasons superstar plays in and they’re having to constantly find solutions to try and balance that.
They haven’t strengthened the midfield which was made considerably weaker by Kroos retirement and Modric aging.
Then he’s also had several defensive issues to contend with too.
But Real Madrid will look at that and say Ancelotti is the problem and not the way they’ve been squad building.
He leaves with a huge legacy though and little left to prove. The Brazil job is a fascinating one for him he’s always been opposed to national team jobs I would actually have preferred if he waited and took the Italy job from Spalletti after the World Cup next year.
