A few seasons ago it would be seen as a step up coming here from most other clubs.
But weāre having difficulty attracting decent players here, so things seem to have changed.
I was being sarcastic about Chambers taking a step up.
But I remember being told I didnāt know what I was talking about when Wenger was manager, because I said rival clubs will catch us up and we wonāt be in the CL places.
So is the idea of clubs like Aston Villa or West Ham doing what spurs and Liverpool did, so far fetched?
People are underestimating the damage that Kroenke and Arteta can do but itās there for all to see.
Oh my bad, sorry if I misinterpreted your post then, I thought you were being sincere, it seemed very on brand for you haha
Not a top player, no, but for a young player that is weighing his options, a club that offers CL football experience is definitely a plus. Am under no illusions of us signing a top player at this club anymore.
Absolutely. There are a lot of hidden gems like Tomiyasu out there that we can benefit from immensely if we could identify them. No clue if we have the scouting network for that though.
Itās business for business sake

Thatās a decent team and Coutinho, Ramsey, Watkins and Buendia is a good attacking line up.
I think Chambers made the right decision to leave and heās still young for a defender but has got plenty of experience.
He deserves to get more first team football and he is at a good club with a good manager.
When did he learn to pass like this?

Honestly ever since Chambers was Fulhamās player of the season it was clear as day he was more than good enough for this league. Shouldnāt have wasted so much time here on the peripherals being played in shit positions
I often said we should have kept Chambers because he was our most versatile defender but he also has turned into a decent goal scorer as well. ![]()
I just canāt stand that he was at the club for so long. I like managers to be decisive, even if I donāt agree with them on everything. In fairness Arteta seems to be a bit of an improvement on that front. Calum was about the same price as Welbeck, and similarly a bit short for a Top 6 club, magic moments aside.
Yeh totally agree, Chambers was £16m and Holding like £2m. Could have probably sold both at certain points for upwards of £50-60m. That could have funded an entire new back line.
Though we all know Wengerās squad building was literally a disaster towards the end. Zero pragmatism.
Quite a few years before the end tbh.
I liked him a lot in that midfield role. People always raved about what great skills/skillz he had. IIRC he scored a ridiculous goal against Villa in the game we won 3-2 with ten men. I wonder if Emery would have played him more in midfield if he stuck around.
Heās definitely a solid defender and the way we let him walk is hopefully one of the last bad pieces of business we do on outgoings for a bit.
