I keep thinking he is @LordBendtner

I thought everyone had had enough of looking at my weird looking dog :joy:

I liked his average arse. Wasn’t the best but certainly wasn’t the worst. Always looked a player that wanted to play even when out of the squad for ages. Was motm against Newcastle on the opening day of the season in 19/20 as well.

We must have something lined up if we are thinning out the squad this much. Otherwise we are just shooting ourselves in the foot.

I remember hearing we’d signed him because his thread was in the players section and now I hear he’s gone because it’s not.

Absolutely pissed away 20-25m by not selling him post Fulham loan. He was never good enough to be a regular here.

What’s nice about this transfer is that it shows there’s obviously a load of stuff going on behind closed doors that Romano et al have no clue about and that should give us at least a glimmer of hope for the next 4 days.

There are several players I would have rather seen go than him.

He’s versatile and more than useful in several positions.

I wonder if Chambers considers this transfer a step down or a step up because Aston Villa look like a club on the up.

They’ve got Coutinho, Digne and Chambers so they have certainly not wasted this window.

What kids mate.

Didn’t sell him post loan a few years ago and barely played him since.

Another example of awful asset management from Arsenal.

Chambers was such a weird player.
Was better at RB than he was at CB but he didn’t have the legs to be a RB.

He never really looked happy in last 4-5 years. We should have sold him years ago when he had value.

I hope he enjoys his football from here on because he is a decent PL player.

This is a much more valid criticism than being upset about the fee, or lack thereof, that we’re getting for him now that he was six months out from the end of his contract in my opinion.

Probably worth pointing out that the decision makers that were involved in not making that sale after the Fulham loan are not necessarily the ones we have now. But absolutely we did have an opportunity to get more for him. I just don’t think we had that opportunity in this window.

IMO, Chambers was a very decent squad option. Had a few good performances for the Arsenal at various positions. I always thought he would play more as a defensive midfielder but I guess we always had cover in that position in Elneny.

Anyway, I wish him the best for his future at Villa. Hope he does well!!

So they’ve signed a has been attacker who earns astronomical wages, a left back who’s at his level and a defender who’s been absolutely shit for most of his career.

I wouldn’t be jealous of that business at all lol

Yep this is overlooked. The same people were in charge that pissed away over ÂŁ100m worth of assets for free.

Whilst I would like us to finish top 4, I don’t think it is an entirely bad thing to miss out on CL IF we strengthen and continue to build in the summer. We don’t have the squad to make any dent on CL in any event and this squad isn’t ready for that step up

I think our chances of strengthening the squad are boosted significantly if we have CL football.

Agreed. If anything, it will only serve to give Mikel CL exposure at our expense.

I am not sure just being in CL is enough, should we scrape top 4, do you really think that convinces a top player to come to Arsenal? I am not convinced. Arsenal is still a top club and in London, we aren’t going to attract the already elite footballers (but finishing 4th won’t get us that either). We need to have our scouts working overtime to find more Tomiyasu type signings IMO

He’s going to Villa from Arsenal, of course its a fucking step down, chill out lol. They aren’t in Europe, they’ve not even finished above us like West Ham have, so let’s not start pontificating about Villa being a step up. It isn’t.
