The reason we didn’t sign Soyuncu was because Emery thought Chambers looked good in training.
Don’t think it’s a big deal in the grand scheme of things, Gabriel-Saliba is a pair of good talents, shame about the manager though.

Arteta has been a great influence for our defenders. I mean, he transformed most of our jokers to passable PL defenders.
Mustafi, Luiz, Holding have looked the best under him. Imagine what he can do with actual hard working talented defenders like Gabriel. The early signs are great.
