Fury just put together some of the best rounds of his career and had a good competitive fight with an all time great fighter and you’re saying he’s lost his edge and he’s doing it for the money?
I don’t think Fury has ever looked better in terms of his physical condition. That was his lightest weight for half a decade.
Him looking awful against Ngannou is because he didn’t train at all for the fight.
Fury has never had an “edge” about him. The Wilder fights conned people into thinking he was a better finisher than he actually is.
That was some of the crispest punching and punch selection he’s had coming in some of the best shape he’s ever been in. It’s crazy to think he’s lost it or that he only fights for money now.
@Truth_hurts you need to take the L on Fury btw haha.
You were so insistent about how he’d ruin Usyk. Early signs are he’s not interested in an immediate rematch. He better not fight AJ he’ll get blasted in 6.
Also that line at the end that Usyk won because of what’s happening in Ukraine was such a dumb comment.
Mad props to Usyk, he’s come up as a cruiserweight and put himself as a name among the ATGs at heavyweight. It’s a bold statement but there’s no shadow of a doubt his name belongs there.
What have you seen that suggests that Fury doesn’t want a rematch? Everything suggests the opposite.
Yes, I thought Fury would bully Usyk, but he came in trim to outbox him. One punch changed the fight. It would be easy to say that Fury was in control and without the showboating he probably cruises after the sixth, but that would be unfair to Usyk who came back brilliantly after the fight seemed to be getting away from him.
The 10/8 round and the round after (think it was the ninth) turned the fight.
Usyk is traditionally a second half of the fight fighter. Fury didn’t come in trim, he came in shape and that’s the difference. He still outweighed Usyk by 40lbs and he NEEDED to be in shape in order to have the engine to deal with Usyk relentless pressure.
Fury had rounds 4-7 where he let his hands go and Usyk struggled. But ultimately he did what great fighters do and he adjusted. He found a home for the overhand right and the straights and Fury had no answer for it.
The fight should have been stopped in the 9th round and it wasn’t.
This is one of those fights where if they go again, Usyk probably stops him or at least washes him completely.
The myth of Fury is finally starting to be exposed for what it really was. A proven drug cheat with a weak CV.
This is professional boxing not amateur boxing mate.
You said Fury was a level above, that he’d beat Usyk down, he’d punch holes in him and you look forward to the excuses.
Fury had a spell in the middle of the fight but once Usyk worked him out and adjusted - Fury had no answers and nothing to give. Rematch would be easier night of work for Usyk.
I hate this simplistic view of sport though. An individual/team can win without being better. Didn’t think Madrid were better than City in the Champions League - they won. Didn’t think Usyk looked better than Fury, but he deservedly won the fight. Fury was picking and timing his shots to perfection in the mid rounds. He showboated and got clipped.
It’s not a simplistic view. If you lose more rounds in a 12 round fight it’s because the other fighter performed better than you over the course of the fight.
Fury had a mid fight spell and outside of that he looked troubled. He was out on his feet in the 9th and many refs would have stopped that fight or at least let Usyk go for the outright knockout rather than give him the standing 8.
You’re posting punch stats and the. Saying you hate simplistic views lol. Punch stats are the most casual fan defence imaginable.
No you’re saying because if somebody wins, they are better. Where have I suggested that Fury won the fight?
Ali lost five times for fuck sake.
You missed my point.
Fury looked unreal in there (he was making Usyk throw and miss in a way that was almost disrespectful) until he got clipped and the course of the fight changed.
I’ve always maintained that Fury carefully selected his opponents for years and the first elite opponent he’s fought since Wlad and he was o it on his feet and should be on the receiving end of a 9th round stoppage.
Fury marketed himself so well that people moving into the myth of him being a generational great.
His CV has taken a massive hit over the last year. His three best wins post-Wlad are Wilder (who everybody now accepts was never an elite fighter), Wallin (who AJ dominated) and Whyte (who’d already been knocked out twice by that point).
The Fury myth is slowly dying and if he ever finally bucks up the courage to fight AJ he’ll be flattened like I always knew he would be. His kryptonite is that straight and nobody in heavyweight boxing throws a more powerful straight than AJ.
Usyk is better and it’s so dumb and stupid not accepting that Usyk is the better man in every imaginable way. Fury had no answers once Usyk made the adjustment from round 8.
Fury lost to the man who has more skill than him and will always rightly be remembered as the best fighter of his generation.
If Fury takes the rematch he’s going to get wiped. The second half of that fight showed Usyk simply had more on his skill set than Fury. He’s a smarter fighter and has much more in his gas tank to fight the full 12.
If Fury is smart he takes the AJ fight and bashes out on a high. If he takes the Usyk fight he loses even more cleanly and then he can’t spout nonsense about how he won lol
