Black Lives Matter Movement

There have already been demonstrations.

There were marches the weekend gone too.

It’s a requirement to wear a face mask and maintain 2m distance. And also to bring water and food for yourself.

I’d be more concerned about police breaching appropriate distancing than peaceful demonstrators.

I’ve noticed police never have any PPE and don’t seem to care too much about respecting people’s desire for space even for the most menial of police stood lol.

You couldn’t make it up. He backtracked hard but he knew what he said.

If only it was just the police. This goes way, way deeper. You only have to see the original medical report which did everything it could to say it wasn’t the fault of the police.

The issue is they usually find not guilty with evidence just as strong as this. The whole problem is there’s never any justice. If cops killing black people without provocation on film were found guilty instead of not guilty there wouldn’t be riots right now.

2 cases (of many), 1 near identical with the cop getting off:

What is this black out thing as I don’t have Twitter

A bit of a weird ā€œflexā€ to make this about West Brom imo :man_shrugging: but it’s a free forum

It’s a way for people to express solidarity with the movement.

By doing?

Posting a blacked out image on social media.

Very powerful listening this

Of course the media can’t be played  this forum software is horrific for embedding social media posts lol

So it’s the usual virtue signaling without offering a meaningful help. How is this black out help our kids become more literate, how is help us lift ourselves out of poverty, cycle of violence or our fatherless homes. It’s the usual protest solidarity (we stand with the blacks) but nothing ever changes once it dies down. Same old broken record that elicits no change just arm chair sympathizers

No matter what people do there’s always going to be someone to criticise it. The level of engagement on social media regarding the matter is unprecedented in my lifetime.

Social media has the power to elicit real change. The Arab Spring started from it and word of marching and protesting for todays movement is spreading like wildfire through social media.

So you can call it virtue signalling all you want but this may well be the straw that broke the camels back and forces real change across the board.

What meaningful help do you expect to be given against the violent acts of the American Police?

This particular murder I think there’s previous. They both worked as security at the same club on the same night. I don’t see that as a coincidence

The unfortunate truth.

You can’t compare a homogenized society fighting the same cause to a fractured society like America. There will be no American spring because there no one facing the same hardship
