Black Lives Matter Movement

You can be offended all you want but why should the freedom speech and freedom of expression by stifled by your offense?

I’m not a fan of the show. I always thought it was garbage. But I am offended by cancelling of free speech.

Are we also not allowed to watch Coming to America or White Chicks anymore? I suppose we are, because hypocricy.

Also the identity politics behind Brexit are only strengthened by this type of virtue signaling.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have said it should be taken down either. But I’m not fussed enough to be outraged by the decision, like some people are. If some people are genuinely offended by the show then that is their prerogative. Can’t tell people how they should think.

Yeah that grown man being breast fed was the straw that broke the cunt’s back as far as that show was concerned

If you really care about Little Britain there are probably still about a million ways for you to watch it.

Times have changed, are they having a laugh?

That might be justification for removing the statue of a slave trader from the 1600s, but a show from 15 years ago? And then Come Fly With Me was only 9 years ago and doing lots of the same kind of thing.

It wasn’t not offensive at any point. The fact that it was so deliberately offensive at a time when it was widely acknowledged that you couldn’t say those things was exactly what made it successful.

Saying times have changed is a bit of a cop out IMO.

He’s not talking about Little Britain. It’s the principle.

BBC or anyone else are under no obligation to host any content they don’t want to. I’m pretty sure its on Netflix and also is still regularly on TV stations. BBC don’t care if you want to watch it, they just don’t want you do it on their platform.

I don’t care or want to watch Little Britain. I care about censorship and cancel culture. Not only that the BBC are removing shows removed by the licence fee payer so the licence payer can’t watch it.

That aside the BBC not having it’s whole database available for the licence payer to view is insulting in itself. The licence payer paid for it, but the BBC won’t let them view it.

Britbox and Netflix removed it as well

BBC remove this for cheap virtue signalling but invite Bannon, Garwood, Grimes and farage on to spew their shite.

Wallopers.

Never watched Little Britain, can’t even believe such a thing was aired in the first place. Blackface is a non-starter. It’s more than offensive. It’s dehumanising.

‘Times has changed’ is a nonsense argument though. It doesn’t even mean anything. You don’t need people protesting on the streets or people yelling on the internet to figure out why Blackface is not going to go down well. Just saving their own skin really.

This is true.

It was 2005, or whatever it was. I can remember watching one sketch where a librarian was overtly offensive to a Chinese lad and then to someone who suffered from dwarfism.

If the BBC think times were different, in 2005, they’re sadly mistaken. Times were different in 1970. The very reasons you can’t show Alf Garnett on telly are the same reasons Little Britain shouldn’t be allowed to re-air.

I don’t know what resurrected such humour, to be honest. The Office pushed a heck of a lot of boundaries and other comedies just thought they could follow suit.

Little Britain won’t be missed.

When the statue hunting moves on from slavers to Nelson’s column, Churchill, and Drake on Plymouth Hoe, which it will, it’s not because the people cheerleading this really care about statues, they want to bring down capitalism; they want to rip apart the foundations of British life because they regard it as immoral. I personally know the types cheerleading this stuff - communists, trotskyites, anarchists. This is dangerous stuff masquerading as progress. The sad thing of course is the general population are going to be pissed about this, it wont bring blacks and whites closer together, it’ll further division. People aren’t won over by mob justice.

I don’t think the groups you mention are on the ‘right side’ either, but I don’t think a serious look and evaluation of the current capitalistic system is a such bad idea…for one inequality and poverty are inherent to this system. Where certain parties profit others have to lose. Or the fact that the well-being of a people is directly link to economic conjecture. And so on.

Same thing in Spain. Those aligning themselves with Cataluña/trans rights/whatever the SJW topic of the day is are inevitably, 9 times out of 10, podemitas–supporters of the communist party, led by a president (Pablo Iglesias), who, as per the tradition of communist leaders, is corrupt af and getting rich off of poor people’s dreams–and there is inevitably a nasty underside to their support for these causes. That is, they are supporting their causes because it fits with the identity politics and the overall extremely dangerous party line that their are ladling up.

Podemos now has a bigger part in our government than it ever has that leads to things like the centre-left party in power being afraid to do things, in great favour of the public health, like cancel the 8-March women’s march despite it being a massive risk to public health.

It’s really depressing how little we’ve evolved. It’s just the two old extremes of communism and fascism fighting it out with one of their favourite weapons historically, identity politics. The liberals of this world have totally lost the plot and become a total farce in the last decade/this century. I’ve always been apolitical, because politics has always just been a farce playing out on the global scale, with no one really learning from history, but this is certainly the most apolitical I’ve felt in my life time, in that, I actually can’t stand the right or left wing parties in the countries I know something about and can’t even begin to think who I could with a good conscience vote for.

Agreed, but no one is proposing that. Instead the world’s left has just fallen back into the old, tiresome politics of the left: anger the working/poor classes about their position, anger minorities/smaller classes with us vs. them identity politics, propose the same old systems of socialism and communism that we know don’t work, have corrupt leaders who are just repeating human history over and over…

I guess it’ll take a Maduro or Chávez in the 1st world for people to actually fear this stuff the way they fear fascism, and until then the left can keep acting like fascists and calling the people who don’t listen to them fascists, because everyone fears that just a bit more.
