Iâm all in favour of a bit of diversity with statues in London, but why does that have to entail pulling stuff down. Why not just put a few new ones up?

Owen Jones has now gone full Little Red Guard, heâs posted an interactive map on Twitter of things that need to be pulled down including a university lecture theatre and statues of Cromwell, King James, and Charles 2nd. They are proper fucking mental.

Got nothing against this but isnât this just a reaction in light of whatâs happened this weekend and if so, is it really in commemoration of whatever person they create a bust for or for the sake of revisionism?
Itâs funny because I was joking earlier that we were going to have to pull down a lot of statues and busts all over the world if we deem history offensive.
Guess I was right and it wasnât a joke 
I mean a few slave traders I can get behind, but that Owen Jones map is fucking dangerous. I mean do we pull down Emperor Trajan or Abraham Lincoln, they kept slaves. Do we pull down Ghandi for racism? What about Mosques - pretty sure Mohammad kept slaves. What about Hugo Boss. He helped the Nazis - bricks through their windows, maybe Lewis Hamilton can get on his knees and beg forgiveness for wearing their gear.

Cromwell was pretty bad on the Irish wasnât he?
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both owned slaves as well.
Pretty sure thereâs some nasty history in Churchillâs past as well.
His statue has been defaced, as has randy Gandhiâs in Leicester
I get that people are venting emotions out of good intentions to some degree, but just on the topic, invoking moral superiority too hard on previous generations is such a self-defeating task because the jokeâs on you if you do, every single person alive today will look like a moral cave man at some point in the future make no mistake.
Ofc we should point out that we donât believe this and that any more, and try to be responsible with what message we send to children and yada yada.
But just about every human who ever achieved something going back a couple of generations and more would be considered a bigoted racist homophobe and a child beating misogynist science denier or whatever weâre into at this particular point in time.
You want to come down on them for that now donât forget to write on your tombstone that you apologise to every future generation for being such a backwards caveman cunt all your life lol

I remember finding it funny when I was 14/15 but havenât seen it since, I imagine it has aged like sour cream.
Canât believe looking back how big it was tbf its actually tragically unfunny now
You know what is funny, though, all the comments below the tweets and stories about it. âThe snowflakes are killing our societyâ âRIP comedyâ âSo the PC brigade have decided we canât have a sense of humourâ and so on and on. People getting offended about people being offended is quite amusing.
