I wouldn’t say it’s racist just slightly ignorant from the person who would do the mocking due to the fact that they can’t speak another language. If you show you are making an effort to speak the language rather than slip back into your own language you should be praised rather than mocked.
I have a mild Irish accent when speaking English and, the English i know take the piss I speak Portuguese with an Italian accent the Portuguese take the piss, it’s not offensive at all, any non English speaking person trying an English accent will always come out with the posh ok old chap accent. It’s funny not offensive.
