18 month loan with option to buy isn’t a bad deal. He’s flopped in Italy but like we’ve seen with Cancelo some players have a style that just doesn’t suit Italy but works very well in England with how direct it is.

Arthur clearly has talent he’s just not got a great fitness record. And the last 3 years of his career have basically seen him fail to live up to early promise.

It’s a risk but the loan mitigates the risk

I like the deal in a vacuum. My one concern is that I expect Arteta to plan for four senior CMs plus Patino next year. So if we have Arthur for 18 months then buying a top class CM in the summer could be dependent on Xhaka leaving.

I’d like to take a punt on Arthur but I’m not crazy about the idea of him being our main competition for Xhaka next year.
