Thanks for the update dude. This is just the worst news to wake up to.
I think it’s going to take a huge turn around from this team now to stay in this race. The smart money will be on City to do their thing and take it away. I would like to believe that we can still fight back but can’t help but feel that familiar sinking feeling I used to feel under Arsene where it felt like we could lose every game we played.
I hope the return of Jesus galvanizes the team. Still love the team for what they have done this season.
yeah pretty much my feeling too… they got that champ feeling back and we were put in our place… going to be very hard to feel confident we can take it… need a few wins on the bounce to at least get our heads positive.
Been making stupid (defensive) mistakes for a while now.
Could have been a different day at Spurs had it not been for Ramsdale.
In the first half of the season many players performed above their actual level, and it’s telling now. Here’s hoping we can get to that level again, but we need some rotation and a bit of luck here and there with results. And for fucks sake, we need Jesus.
I think we’ve have to kinda reset our approach to games and go back to giving priority to being solid at the back, even if that means our attacking play suffers a bit. We have had a lot of possessions in all the recent games but that has neither resulted in a lot of goals nor has that kept the opposition from creating dangerous chances.
So just go back to being a bit more pragmatic, a bit more boring if you will, curtail our attacking intent, at least until Jesus is back and operating at 100%. Don’t need fast starts, just get into the game, get a feel for the opposition’s tactics, their main threats and then pick your moments. We don’t have to play on the front foot, especially when we are not at our best.
Don’t buy this better team stuff. We were always convincing ourselves we were somehow the better team in the past.
If you’re sloppy and naive you get punished when the other players are good. If you don’t make chances and score you don’t win. What happens in between is mostly irrelevant.
I think we played well, they were ultimately more clinical in front of goal than we were, and with some silly mistakes/gifts in front of our own goal we shot ourselves in the foot
When we got the pen and made it 1-1 I was feeling like we could take a draw, but second half seemed different and we were giving balls away, not passing when we should have, not taking chances.
Cant do that against a team of such quality.
We are joint top, with a game in hand in mid February.
If they were more clinical than us, better defensively, more robust, better positionally and quicker to each loose ball then we weren’t better than them.
We had some chances but by and large City were the better team.
I really think either team could have won. 3-1 massively flatters them. But we absolutely gifted them the victory with stupid, stupid errors.
Doesn’t feel like they beat us, more that we gifted them easy goals. They didn’t earn the win which really hurts the most. Same story as the last 11 losses in a row.
We’re absolutely still in the title race. Have to reset and beat Villa on the weekend. Need to get 3 points on the board quick.
