Arsenal vs Man City (PL) fuck

Grealish

Pep said we were the better team in the first half of the match

Ahhh I think they’re going to say that in front of the cameras arent they?
Cant believe thats what they truly believe.

That’s not a game that should be finishing with a 3-1 loss.

Very hard to stomach the result.

Trying to be positive this morning but it’s difficult. We need a very strong performance at Villa Park. If we drop any points on the weekend then we’re looking at 1 or 2 points from our last 12. Title will be dead at that point.

Got to take that on your right foot. Pass across goal to Eddie is on too

That shots on goal statistic stands out like a sore thumb. Our only shot on target was the penalty

That amount of shots and lack of shots on target whilst having 64% possession can produce such a result especially when going up against elite opposition who were far more clinical with their finishing.

It was essentially a peak Jose-esque defeat

I’m not throwing the towel in on the title either. Those mistakes though come from not handling the occasion.
It’s nerves and lack of composure. They came here and scored 3 times in a game they couldn’t afford to lose.
We are in trouble if we don’t face the reality of what happened last night and looking beyond a VAR decision against Brentford.
Don’t think for a minute Arteta will do that and why I’ll stay positive for now.

We were in so many good positions. The Saka chance above, the Xhaka one where he just failed to shoot for some reason. Nketiah should have hit the target with his chances.

We fluffed our lines which meant shots didn’t hit the target, but the chances themselves were every bit as good as what City produced. Shouldn’t take away from the fact we created opportunities just because the final shot was bollocks.

Those stats are typical of us I think
Possession based but not enough shots or goals.

Watching it I think we always want that extra touch, that extra turn, that extra pass.
We need to be quicker, more clinical and ruthless in front of goal.

We were behind for half the match and level for half the match. At home, it’s not surprising to see so much of the ball then.

Won’t 0.75 of that xG be our penalty? Which was given after a registered shot too and the ball had already gone, so I think reflects disproportionately in our favour.

Also, isn’t the point of superstar players like Haaland and De Bruyne that they’ll win you a game 3-1 with 1.75 xG? I’m sure they’ve done it before.

It seems in order to me. Good teams not at their best.

Ederson wasn’t worked, Ramsdale was.

Good point, our npxG wasn’t anything to scream about

We were way off the standards we’ve set

Yep it’s literally as simple as that. Eddie had 2 or 3 golden chances. Xhaka had two great chances to put our players through on goal / shoot. On a good day there’s 3 or 4 goals there. Instead all were wasted.

Then at the other end we are playing Russian Roulette till we get shot. The best team doesn’t waste these chances nor give away goals. That’s it really.

So does Eddie
not enough movement the ball rarely reaches him.

Agree. We basically spotted them 2 easy goals through unforced errors in our defensive third.

Tomi and Gabriel were shocking playing out from back. Clearly the occasion got to them and affected their composure.

City will be gutted they lost a week’s of Stefan Ortega’s salary there
