Arsenal vs Liverpool (PL) 3-1

Just to spoil the Klopp narrative.

I’m halfway into this thinking.

I believe we will win on Sunday. However, we’ll come unstuck at Brighton, White Hart Lane, and naturally up in Manchester twice. That’ll be our undoing to a stuttering over the line.

We’re gonna win it all, PL CL double, stop being wet wipes.

Who do we think will start in midfield? Can’t see Partey being thrown right back in so surely between Kai and ESR.

Mikel was very positive about ESR after the game the other day but obviously Liverpool are different gravy. Is it too much after his first start to play against gegenpress FC 4 days later?

I’ve got no real preference but interested what Mikel will go with.

I would start ESR due to tactical reason.

Kai provides more flexibility as a sub, while ESR possibly as a midfield mainly, as Trossard will sub Marti’s place (or vice versa).

On the overlap this week Neville thinks we need to win. Keane and Wright disagreed and said its must not lose instead. I’d agree with K & W

There’s no such thing as a must win in early February.

It’s a great opportunity for us to close the gap though.

me too, worried.

I worry they consider this game against us the key game of the second half of the season, they smell blood with their lead in the table and they wanna all do it for Klopp the hype merchant etc etc

I’d be worried if they were better than us but they aren’t, and I don’t think it’s even as close as with City.
We’ll outplay them like we usually do, hopefully this time lady luck isn’t with them and we don’t waste our chances.

Welcome brother. Embrace the darkness. There is nothing here but the void.

Do you really think this? I’m genuinely struggling with that one.

Tbf we’ve started both games we’ve played against them this season stronger. We’ve got to turn chances into goals

Last 3 games at the Emirates we outplayed them.
Even at Anfield, the last 3 games there we had a better showing each time and they never managed to beat us.

I do not fear this Liverpool side. They’re pretty good but they’re not peak Klopp Liverpool good.

The best sides(purely off performances) I’ve seen this season in the PL are Arsenal and City, Arsenal being just a little bit ahead.
Then I would say it’s Liverpool.

I would say these 3 are clear of the rest so far this season.

The only fear is their front line, no matter who plays they always have a goal in them and usually against us a fuggin scrappy annoying one at that.

We can easily outplay them, we did in the cup but didn’t take the chances and sucker punched ourselves (still wasn’t a freekick imo).

It’s the potential narrative if we lose that bothers me, I’m sure it’ll be horrendous in the media.

Oh, I get it.

I just see this as a big opportunity for us to remind people who the fuck we are.

We keep watching teams failing to do get points off City and Liverpool in recent weeks. Well, let’s do it ourselves.

A team that wants to win the league looks forward to these type of games and delivers a blow not only statistically on the board but mentally too. See what City did to us.

Our approach was essentially us trying to open the gap as much as possible so when City wake up from their traditional slow start at this point, they wouldn’t
be able to catch us.
Meanwhile, City were looking forward to play us.
Grealish did an interview I think in the summer and he pretty much confirmed that they were patiently waiting and once the gap closed he was certain they will win the league.

Notice the pattern of our two slumps last season. Both happened on the road to facing City in the league. It is no coincidence.
Lads were either bricking it or looking too far ahead that they forgot who they had to beat first.

I’m with you. Both teams at their best, we are better. Should be a routine win. We can only lose to ourselves here.

This would be very handy for us

I’d rather he plays. Donkey does fck all against us, anyway.

Isn’t that how it goes though? When we lose it’s usually because of some massive brain fart or Zinchenko being too slow or a hundred shots on goal without actually scoring. When was the last time a team played us off the pitch?

Fulham away. Before that, I would say Brighton last season?

We were poor against Chelsea this season too but we still managed to find a way to get something out of it.
