Arsenal Vs Leicester City (PL)

Arsenal has to beat them. These are the games that count. Liverpool and City would have bonus points.

It would be interesting to see the viewing figures. I think they will be quite low, though I do also think some people will “secretly” buy it while publicly bemoaning it.

Where is my 5 live crew at?

And that’s a fantastic effort but the big clubs have very big fanbases.
Would be interesting seeing the viewing figures though.

I wasn’t saying that we wont be selected for PPV ever again, I meant that I could make an exception and that would constitute a one off for me personally.

If you could guarantee the majority of it went to the clubs to replace ticket losses I’m sure people wouldn’t be so against it, but as far as I know they’ve not announced anything like this?

If you want to support your club, pay 15 quid, each club gets a fiver and Sky get a fiver to cover their costs, would seem reasonable to me, albeit probably still too much for me to personally bother.

At the moment it feels like just giving lots of money to Sky and/or the Premier League.

Would you not continue buying the other matches though? I think for some people it will be like you describe, as the match approaches they’ll have some kind of FOMO and will just think fuck it, it’s only £15. Having the option to watch will be too much of a temptation. But then when the next match comes around, ah it’s only £15, and so on. I reckon I’d be tempted for a Friday or Saturday night match.

Thing is some people genuinely look forward to the games, I don’t even think it’s fomo. For me personally I eagerly look forward to every game, I watch it with my little baby girl, my wife, mother in law and Niece and nephew, every one rocking an Arsenal shirt. it’s annoying to have to pay extra but it’s something we enjoy watching and I don’t feel the price is exorbitant in anyway. In addition even if it was just me on my jacks I would still do it, because realistically what else could I be doing anyway? I think there’s thousands of others like that out there as well, but like you said will bemoan to not get shitted on by others

So do I. But I’m not being shafted £15 for one game.

You’ll get robbed. Our providers also offer the option for a PPV, but all of today’s games (Serie A) you pay €3.99.

Fair enough but value is subjective no? You may feel like your being extorted but I don’t feel like it is mate.

I’m not going to start regularly paying £15 for a single football match. With all the stuff I get free at the moment I can financially justify a one off payment of fifteen quid, or perhaps one every few months. But if increasing amounts of matches keep on not being normally televised I won’t be regularly paying £15 per match. If I did it more regularly it would start to cancel out or outweight the stuff I’m luckily getting for free.

I spent years watching matches on dodgy streams because I didn’t have access to Sky or BT, if increasing numbers of our matches go to Box Office I’ll go back to doing that, it is what it is.

I’m not even saying that I necessarily will buy the event today, just that as I think about it more it’s not actually unreasonable for me to potentially pay £15 once given the amount of football I get to watch for free at the moment.

You’re completely missing my point. We all enjoy watching football. My argument is about the price point. That’s reasonable for you, great, good for you. But you’re not a better fan because you can afford to spend £15 on one football match every couple of weeks.

There will be other people who “genuinely” look forward to the games too, but can’t afford that extra £15 a few times a month. Because in the context of how much sport costs on TV this is pretty extortionate. Even a Now TV pass is only £10 for a whole day!

And it’s no good comparing it to going to an actual match. When you go to a match you’re paying for an experience.

Did he imply that he thought he is?!

I’m just annoyed as they gave it to us all for “free” and now have decided to charge us all extra because they are money hungry cunts

That’s how I read it, yeah. Kinda like well if you are a genuine fan you’ll buy it.

If you get sky and bt free then I’d 100 percent pay for it aswell :joy:

To be honest you sound a bit like you think you’re a better football fan than others for refusing to pay it, and are taking others to task for saying they would consider it.

Who said you are better fan for forking out the money? If there wasn’t a demand for it they wouldn’t be charging people for it would they? You have the option not to pay for it if it bugs you so much but others also have the option TO pay for it if they want. Which is better than it not being broadcast at all.

also not to be a dick here but if someone can’t pay £15 to watch a match how were they watching these games before anyway? Subscriptions cost money as well and both the Sky Sports and BT sports packages are quite a lot more monthly

I didn’t say I’m refusing to pay it though. I even said I’d be tempted for Friday or Saturday night matches. That doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a complete rip off though.
