It’s life really . Had a season ticket for years , went home and away.
Met someone moved into a house and couldn’t justify it.
Had sky for years then bought house and cancelled Sky. Done a lot of the weekend passes which were good value at one time.Sky just went too day ones and only bought a couple of them.
Streams and the odd pass now.
One thing about PPV over regular Sky subscription if it’s a bad season well you don’t pay and save money.
I don’t have that special feeling with the game anymore so it’s easier for me.
Well not calling you out here mate as your a different generation but this how a lot of us felt when it went from terrestrial tv to Sky.
Can’t see Tierney doing this for us today seeing as Arteta plays him as a fucking center back
Love it Cal. Let the anger flow through you
Don’t worry, Heccy B can give it a go instead
Tbf I don’t think him scoring goals is something coming into Arteta mindset. Nor should it.
Get back too the Auba on the wing shouts for real criticism lads.
I could handle the £15 cost for games if they were 3pm Saturday kick offs and fans were still in the stadium. In a way, it’s a justifiable cost for fans to see games they wouldn’t otherwise be able to see (in past due to the black out).
But I think the way this has been done and the timing of it all - plus the fact we’re now likely going to find most of our games ending up on PPV it’s just not something I can get behind. I’ll stream this without feeling a shred of guilt.
Tierney not being allowed to cross the halfway line is surely on of Arteta’s worst crimes if not the worst.
We didn’t sign him to play as a center half mate
Yep. I also think there should have been some deal in place for season ticket holders. I know all clubs have dealt with season tickets in different ways, but some clubs still have the fans’ money for this season. There should be a way for them to watch the matches for free or at least at a cheaper price point, as a thank you for your loyalty kind of thing.
It just feels like take take take from the league/clubs and nothing is reciprocated.
@stroller another aspect of this post Project Restart game scheduling crap we might see is Arsenal v Leicester actually played on a Sunday night at 7.15pm (when fans return)
The discord between the fans v EPL/TV companies is going to be a chasm the size of the Grand Canyon soon
Yeah I cant help feeling all these different kick off times are try outs for future scheduling.
Seems like momentum is building rapidly now.
Oh fair play, apologies if I misrepresented/misconstrued what you’re saying.
Looking at this quoted post, it feels like we actually pretty much feel the same way then lol
I’m not buying 1 game on protest. If you buy games it just encourages them to move to the PPV model fulltime even after the pandemic is over. And once they do that, don’t think it will stop at £14.99. They’ll start increasing the price for big games.
Yeah they will category grade matches later on.
It makes sense as it would stop fans exiting stadiums all over the country at the same time. I don’t actually mind the kick off times and I think it’s something that fans could get behind/used to eventually.
Especially when you won’t be looking at away fans needs for the next year or so you’d imagine, maybe longer.
Don’t think that’s the reason behind it though. Makes a certain logic as you say in the short term.
Guess it’s just a new chapter in the game.
I’m thinking purely health and safety standpoint but I do imagine it will be more to do with finances. Just out of curiosity what do you think the reason behind it is?
Just viewing figures. Also at the moment tv has never been more important for the game. Maximizing every opportunity to highlight themselves and people not having much alternative for nights out is massive for them. Probably going too be lots of people who will get out the habit of going the game now and TV is the next best alternative.
Must be plenty of fans who have had time too contemplate this. Comes a time when most people make this decision.
My dad made it at 81. Me I was done with the regular stuff by 40. (Season ticket, away games etc) Just life and justifing money and time from the kids really .
Yeh that’s spot on I agree with all of that. I also agree with the fact that people reach a point where going to the games isn’t what it was for them, either due to money, time or effort/health factors.
Especially with the world the way it is now you definitely have to find a way to let any and everyone watch a game on TV if going out is too much of a risk for them, and that’s why I do like they staggered kick off times as it allows people at home more chance to watch every or any game they would like.
This PPV stuff on the other hand is completely wrong and eating into that accessibility, we should be making at least 1 or 2 games a weekend free to watch for those that can’t afford the bloated sky and BT packages.
The disconnect between fans and football has never been higher and I just don’t understand why they want to increase that when it would be so easy to remedy. PPV is the kind of thing that over the course of the year could turn people away and when the turnstiles finally do open people realized they just can’t be bothered anymore.
It’s a very short sighted and greedy move that could be long term detrimental to the sport’s future.
