Arsenal vs Burnley (PL)

It’s glorious

Really? We played against a physical side that came to frustrate and we managed to get through it with a terribly weakened defense and scored some good goals.

We weren’t great but I’ve been way less encouraged by a lot of our other wins this season. West Ham is still the low point for me.

Haha 3 seasons in a row now we’ve pissed off Burnley :poldi:

Take the last 3 league games as a whole against inferior opponents. We have ended up playing to the last minute against bad sides. Its very concerning because the games now just get harder.

what do you expect to hppen when a core group of players in defense are missing and we have square pegs in round holes everywhere

Against that Opposition at home at least easy wins and against a southampton team that was on a crap run another win.
At least one of them games surely should be a comfortable walk in the park. Everyone of them was a hard watch.
Im in here batting hard for Emery, but the guys flawed if he is left with this bunch of players for long.

^Let me put it in terms those Brexit loving neanderthals might understand. Ginger Mou can eat shit. His team plays terrible football. Hope they go down.

EDIT: Any word on Monreal’s injury? We really don’t have any defenders left, right?

Pretty bad performance sadly… we got the 3 points, which is what matters in the cold of December with injuries mounting like a porn star. Really good finishing is what got us 3 points - we easily could have dropped points on that performance on another day honestly. We made Burnley look much better than they are.

Leno - no huge gaffes, but I gasp seeing him rush out… not convincing at all - 6

AMN - poor. Like the lad, but he hasn’t been good since he got back from injury… also, did he look fragile all day or what? - 4.5

Sokratis - forgot to wake up his brain apparently… some nice interceptions, but this guy has calamity-waiting written all over him some games - 5

Nacho - not much I can recall good or bad before he limped off… another injury in defense - n/r

Kola - perhaps MOTM along with Auba for the most important finishes… dangerous bombing forward. Love his intelligent physicality too… doesn’t always go in like a bull like our other defenders tend to do, but still gets his man out of the way - 7

Lichty - good grief - looks like he lost 50 football IQ points for this game… wtf is he doing wrestling in the box - very, very fortunate. Not impressed with him today at all - 4

Xhaka - mostly solid but did his unfortunate “oh that guy is wearing a different color shirt? what just happened?” - 5.5

Guen - poor… just poor… needs to sit a few games imho - 4

Laca - worked hard, looked frustrated a bit, and I think he seemed a tiny bit slower today. Good to take him off and allow him that extra rest for the busy period - 5.5

Ozil - meh… really feels like the beginning of the end. A couple of bright moments punctuating a rather mediocre game imho… even the subtle stuff he does seemed ineffective (the amount of times we passed all along our back 4 got a bit tiresome). He’ll get some credit for the goals, but I didn’t really see much from him today - hopefully the positive press will spur him on - 5.5

El Neny - meh - ok but also did the Xhaka pass a few times… fine as deep squad option and this is the type of game we should be able to use him… - 5

Auba - can’t argue with 2 goals, both wonderful finishes - 8

Torry - not his best game, but got involved to break some things up… overall though, Burnley moved through us tragically easily. - 5.5

Iwobi - nice finish… not much else to say - 6.5

Hopefully it is just we were gassed and are struggling with the turnstile defense (in all senses), but man I was hoping for more after losing to Spurs… we need to play better against almost any other opposition or we drop points.

@ljungbergkamp I wouldn’t worry too much about the level of performance. We were way below par today but also started with a fourth choice defensive line, a midfielder who nobody really thinks can cut it at the club and a ref who allowed Burnley to kick the crap out of our players.

I think this time of year really favors teams like Burnley in some respects. They may not have the depth of squad that Arsenal have but fatigue is a real equalizer.

I’m a little frustrated that Torreira didn’t pick up a yellow. I’d have half a mind to bench him on Boxing Day to ensure that he starts against Liverpool.

Chelsea losing today makes the victory even more sweet. Now just hoping that spuds lose to Everton tomorrow.

But but but we lost to Southampton

Walcott hattrick incoming :henry2:

We really need to keep pace with the current top 4. We need to get better at grinding out wins from the bottom 14

Not sure he has it in him to score 1 anymore let alone 3.

If crystal palace can fuck up city on their own turf, walcott should be able to dink home a tap in against the scum.

Aiii @BigWeng_4LYFE you seeing this Theo slander???

Guy was one of our best NLD players. Scored many against them. :wenger2:

:gunnersaurus: wins!

Dyche embarrassed himself in the post match interview, as predicted. Apparently the referees gave every decision to Arsenal. The Ashley Barnes sending off issue must’ve slipped his mind.
